Patients with removable partial dentures or complete do not demonstrate masticatory function to the same level as patients a full set of natural teeth. The purpose this study was characterize relationship between reduction function, in terms performance and bite force, existence remaining occlusal supports assessed by Eichner index. One hundred eighteen denture wearers were selected for analyses. These subjects divided into four groups depending upon number supports. Seventy dentate support...

Establishing the optimum occlusal vertical dimension (OVD) in prosthetic treatment is an important clinical procedure. No methods are considered to be scientifically accurate determining reduced OVD patients with missing posterior teeth. The purpose of this study was derive a new formula predict lower facial height (LFH) using cephalometric analysis.Fifty-eight lateral radiographs Japanese residents (mean age, 28.6 years) complete natural dentition were used for study. Conventional skeletal...

Abstract Background The purpose of this study was to investigate the trueness intraoral scanning residual ridge in edentulous regions during vitro evaluation inter-operator validity. Methods Both maxillary and partially mandibular models were selected as a simulation model. As reference data, two performed using dental laboratory scanner (D900, 3Shape A/S). Five dentists used an (TRIOS 2, A/S) five times capture “zig-zag” technique used. They did not have experience with scanners clinical...

To compare the fabrication accuracy of clasps made using different CAD/CAM technologies.Five were created three technologies: casting from a resin pattern additive manufacturing; computer numerical controlled milling; and selective laser sintering (SLS). Differences between scan data CAD statistically analyzed. There significant differences in all parts clasps. The difference values small overall for SLS clasp. This study demonstrated that clasp is outstanding terms reproducibility.

To evaluate fit and retention of cobalt-chromium removable partial denture (RPD) frameworks fabricated with selective laser melting (SLM).Three types framework for clasp-retained RPDs were virtually designed using SLM (n = 30). For comparison, 30 additional produced conventional lost-wax casting. A biomechanical model was created, incorporating extracted teeth mounted on flexible metal posts. Using this model, horizontal constraint forces resulting from a misfit measured strain gauges, while...

Summary The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between patterns missing occlusal units (OUs) and oral health‐related quality life (OHRQoL) in subjects with shortened dental arches (SDAs). Subjects SDAs were recruited consecutively for 1 month from six university‐based prosthodontic clinics. In total, 115 SDA participated (mean age, 58·5 ± 10·0 years; 71% female). location number teeth examined OUs calculated. To evaluate OHRQoL, Japanese version Oral Health Impact Profile...

The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence bruxism on stomatognathic system. A new device for measuring nocturnal mandibular movements developed using a PIN photodiode sensor, integrated with polysomnography including electromyography (EMG), electroencephalography (EEG) and electro oculography (EOG). One bruxing event defined depending upon EMG activities above 5% maximum voluntary contraction (MVC), movement each classified into three patterns (clenching, grinding mix)....
