The phase behavior of three N-alkyl-substituted perylene diimide derivatives is examined by differential scanning calorimetry and polarized optical microscopy. occurrence multiple transitions indicates several crystalline liquid phases. X-ray diffraction measurements show that the phases display high structural ordering in all dimensions: smectic layers are formed, within these an additional columns observed. Molecular modeling confirms this result substantiates with interdigitating alkyl...
Abstract Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are porous crystalline materials consisting of metal ions bound through coordination bonds to organic linkers. Much research over the last few decades have been devoted synthesis these in view their promising applications in, for example, catalysis, separation, gas storage, drug delivery and sensing. Among variety methods developed MOFs electrochemical techniques. These several advantages such as mild conditions, shorter times possibility control...
A very mild method was developed for the attachment of high-quality organic monolayers on crystalline silicon surfaces. By using visible light sources, from 447 to 658 nm, a variety 1-alkenes and 1-alkynes were attached hydrogen-terminated Si(100) Si(111) surfaces at room temperature. The presence quality evaluated by static water contact angles, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy. Monolayers prepared thermal, UV light, or initiation compared. Additionally, ability infrared...
The possibility to use dilute alkene solutions for the formation of monolayers with 1-hexadecene on a hydrogen-terminated silicon(100) surface has been investigated variety solvents. resulting were analyzed by water contact angles. Anisole, n-butylbenzene, and n-decane found be unsuitable solvents monolayer preparation at all concentrations used. At high (25% 10% (v/v)) well-ordered formed in toluene, xylene (mixture isomers), cumene, tert-butylbenzene, mesitylene. Only mesitylene are...
Abstract During the last decade, synthesis and application of metal–organic framework (MOF) nanosheets has received growing interest, showing unique performances for different technological applications. Despite potential this type nanolamellar materials, synthetic routes developed so far are restricted to MOFs possessing layered structures, limiting further development in field. Here, a bottom‐up surfactant‐assisted approach is presented fabrication various nonlayered MOFs, broadening scope...
Since their introduction in 2001, SiNW-based sensor devices have attracted considerable interest as a general platform for ultra-sensitive, electrical detection of biological and chemical species. Most studies focus on detecting, sensing monitoring analytes aqueous solution, but the number gases vapors using is increasing. This review gives an overview selected research papers related to application gas phase that been reported over past 10 years. Special attention given surface modification...
The formation of soluble reversible coordination polymers with Zn2+ ions in aqueous solution was studied for two bifunctional ligands, differing spacer length. Viscosity measurements were used to follow the as a function ratio between metal and total ligand concentration, temperature. All experimental findings could be reproduced interpreted theoretical model that accounts chains rings. At low concentrations at 1:1 metal-to-ligand ratio, large fraction monomers are incorporated small rings,...
A 1,3,5-benzenetrisamide with three pending hexaalkoxytriphenylene groups has been synthesized as an example of interesting class intermolecular H-bond-stabilized columnar discotic liquid crystalline materials. The material forms a plastic hexagonal phase that does not crystallize on cooling from the isotropic phase, even after annealing for few days at room temperature. X-ray and computational studies provide detailed model organization this material. charge carrier mobility, 0.12 cm2 V-1...

The structure of octadecyl monolayers on the H-terminated Si(111) surface is investigated by molecular modeling simulations, using substitution percentages from 33.3% to 100% Si−H moieties Si−alkyl groups. In all calculations, two-dimensionally repeating boxes were used mimic modified surface. Calculations without this box approach shown be unsuccessful. results showed that only with a percentage ∼50% there good correlation between as obtained and available experimental data. A variety...
The rheology of reversible coordination polymer networks in aqueous solution is studied. polymers are formed by neodymium(III) ions and bifunctional ligands, consisting two pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate groups connected at the 4-positions an ethylene oxide spacer. Neodymium(III) can bind three these terdendate ligand groups. At high concentrations, yield viscoelastic materials, which be described with Maxwell model. scaling elastic modulus, relaxation time, zero-shear viscosity concentration...

The perylene derivative 1,7-dibromoperylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic tetrabutylester has been obtained in regioisomerically pure form, by employing a highly efficient, scalable, and robust synthesis starting from commercially available perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic bisanhydride. Subsequently, this compound is utilized for the of extremely valuable versatile intermediates, namely, dibutylester monoanhydride, bisanhydride, 1,7-dibromoperylene monoimid monoanhydride. These compounds possess...

A new approach has been developed to prepare amino-terminated monolayers on hydrogen-terminated silicon surfaces. This two-step procedure is the first method that provides direct control over surface density of amino groups. First, a mixed monolayer protected ω-amino-1-alkene and nonfunctional 1-alkene prepared H-terminated Si surface, using either phthalimide or acetamide as NH2-protecting Subsequent removal protective groups generates covalently attached NH2-terminated monolayer, evidenced...
