The techniques of grating lobe (GL) suppression in planar phased array antennas composed periodic subarrays with rectangular or triangular grids large element spacing are considered. GL is achieved using an aperiodic arrangement subarrays. This approach provides a means to decrease GLs without significant increase structural complexity relative arrays; moreover, other antenna parameters do not essentially change compared arrays. Estimations maximum presented. Antenna characteristics such as...

Modern radio systems with active phased array antennas (APAA) are created in a wide frequency range from the meter of wavelength to millimeter range. Due development technology, they becoming cheaper, lighter and more compact both applying very large-scale integration circuits using tile layout. The reduction price is achieved, particular, due use silicon-germanium substrates (SiGe) microcircuits, which used computer technologies, instead gallium arsenide (GaAs). ones can have digital...

In a number of wireless communication systems with multibeam antennas, the distance from antenna to subscribers in different parts service area varies significantly.Such include high-altitude platform station systems, based on low Earth orbit and medium satellites, several others. If such system uses an identical beams, throughputs lines cells can differ by more than order magnitude due variation distance. To equalize across all within area, beams be employed. The gain these should proportional...

In this report, some problems of initial phases determination PAA channels (PAA calibration) are considered. These usually arise during in-service re-calibration PAAs, when it is not possible to provide a measurement environment which close laboratory environment. Specific challenges that occur multielement calibration procedures taken into account. Calibration errors because inaccurate probe positioning Influences signal reflections from objects on results examined. Effects power quality...

Options of Ku- and Ka-band antenna terminals for satellite communication are considered. Most the time, terminal should operate in Ka-band, when hydrometeors appear signal level drops down below threshold, modem automatically switches system to Ku-band, ensuring continuity communication. Three options compared. It is shown that at present, best option terms cost, switching time frequency band, quality radiation characteristics, reliability consisting two single-band reflector antennas Ka-bands.
