The dysfunction of oligodendrocytes (OLs) is regarded as one the major causes inefficient remyelination in multiple sclerosis, resulting gradually disease progression. Oligodendrocytes are derived from oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs), which populate adult central nervous system, but their physiological capability to myelin synthesis limited. low intake essential lipids for sphingomyelin human diet may account increased demyelination and reduced efficiency process. In our study on...
Abstract Forty‐eight compounds have been identified in the essential oil from Nigella sativa (black cumin) seeds, 14 of which are volatiles that never isolated black cumin before. This is first time to show two monoterpenoids: cis ‐ and trans ‐4‐methoxythujane, occur naturally plants, specifically N. seeds 0.3% 4%, respectively. The structures 4‐methoxythujanes were established by both spectroscopic chemical methods. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
Abstract Various conditions of extraction were applied to obtain active extracts raw poplar-type propolis. The efficiency traditional maceration was evaluated in terms used solvent: ethanol (70 and 96% v/v), acetone (pure 70%), propylene glycol, glycerol (50%), water with modifiers: PEG 400 lecithin. For obtained extracts, the total amounts extracted phenolics flavonoids as well antioxidant activity compared. most profile volatile organic compounds use GC × GC–MS selected polyphenols content...
Abstract BACKGROUND Large quantities of blackberry seeds are produced as a pomace during the processing juice and jam production; this by‐product is very interesting raw material both for oil manufacturing source bioactive compounds. In work composition, yield antioxidant activity three types Rubus fructicosus extracts isolated by liquid extraction using solvents different polarity, well with supercritical CO 2 fluid have been compared. RESULTS The highest extract was reported Soxhlet...
Microgreens are environmentally friendly and have health benefits in addition to their basic nutritional contents. The effect of white (W), white–blue (W + B), white–red R) light on the bioactive compounds, nutrient composition, antioxidant potential red cabbage microgreens were investigated using light-emitting diodes (LEDs). results showed that protein, fat, ash, chlorophylls, carotenoids highest under W light, while phenolic compounds B light. Supplementation with as well or blue resulted...
This study aimed to evaluate the impact of dietary supplementation with omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic (DHA) combined scaling root planing (SRP) in untreated periodontitis stage III IV.
This study aimed to determine the effect of selected essential oil compounds (EOCs) on antibacterial activity β-lactam antibiotics (βLAs) against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains. The following parameters were studied: antibiotic susceptibility testing, detection mecA gene and evaluation genotypic relativity isolates using molecular techniques, analysis chemical composition applying Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, determination EOCs alone in...
Mushrooms are highly perishable, with a shelf life of up to three days. Considering their richness in nutrients and unique taste aroma, extending shelf-life presents valuable field exploration. Essential oil fumigation, already studied plants, could effectively preserve mushroom quality by slowing the loss nutrients. This study focused on fumigation two wild species, Boletus edulis Imleria badia, as well one cultivated namely, Agaricus bisporus, treated Foeniculum vulgare (fennel) Picea...
Precise age determination of unidentified bodies and human remains is one the essential tasks forensic science. The aim this study was to assess applicability using enantiomeric composition aspartic acid racemization in root crown dentin for dental estimation a Polish population sample. Coronal from four teeth groups mandible were studied gas chromatography with mass spectrometry. results demonstrated very high correlation between chronological both samples. Individual linear equations...
The antifungal activity of Lactobacillus pentosus ŁOCK 0979 depends both on the culture medium and fungal species. In control medium, strain exhibited limited antagonistic against indicator food-borne molds yeasts. However, supplementation bacterial with polyols (erythritol, lactitol, maltitol, mannitol, sorbitol, xylitol) or their galactosyl derivatives (gal-erythritol, gal-sorbitol, gal-xylitol) enhanced properties 0979. Its metabolites were identified quantified by enzymatic methods,...

Abstract Geranyl acetone and nerolidol have a broad spectrum of bioactivity, they exhibit, inter alia , olfactory, germicidal antimicrobial properties. Twelve E / Z ‐mixtures analogues geranyl were examined for their odour activity. Mixtures generally scent that is similar to the parent terpenoid, with interesting notes (violet, rose, fruity), while mixtures was rather weak, floral, fresh fruity. The thresholds relative volatility factors determined. activity products described in this...
The blood–brain barrier (BBB) tightly controls the microenvironment of central nervous system (CNS) to allow neurons function properly. Additionally, emerging studies point beneficial effect natural oils affecting a wide variety physiological and pathological processes in human body. In this study, using an vitro model BBB, we tested influence fish oil mixture (FOM) vs . borage (BO), both rich long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFAs) monounsaturated (MUFAs) such as oleic acid...
Headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) coupled to GC/MS analysis was used identify the constituents of pine-needle volatiles differentiating three closely-related pine species within Pinus mugo complex, i.e., P. uncinata Ramond ex DC., uliginosa G.E.Neumann Wimm., and Turra. Moreover, chemosystematic markers were proposed for analyzed species. The major α-pinene (28.4%) bornyl acetate (10.8%) uncinata, δ-car-3-ene (21.5%) (16.1%) uliginosa, (20%) (18.1%) mugo. This study is first...
The chemical composition of carrot umbel oils obtained by hydrodistillation three cultivars Daucus carota L. ssp. sativus was investigated GC and GC–MS. Forty components were identified. dominated monoterpene hydrocarbons (66–85%) represented mainly α-pinene (40–46%) myrcene (12–24%). most abundant sesquiterpene constituents β-caryrophyllene (4.6–13.2%) carotol (1.2–6.1%). The volatile composition of Abies alba Mill. seeds and cone scales has been studied, leading to the determination 90 constituents. major component seed essential oil was (-)-limonene (about 70%), while that scale α-pinene (57%). Monoterpene hydrocarbons were predominant in both oils, but quantitative qualitative compounds specific for each part tree.
By implementing a common and industrially used method, 30 compounds which are structurally related to geranyl acetone, nerolidol, farnesal, farnesol farnesyl acetate were obtained. Their antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, faecium, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae Acinetobacter baumannii bacteria was investigated. Pharmacophore models proposed based on the obtained results 3D QSAR modelling. Cytotoxic effects mainly human immortalised normal...
The compositions of mountain pine (Pinus uncinata) and peat-bog (P. uliginosa) needle essential oils were investigated. Enantiomeric selected monoterpene hydrocarbons also examined. Respectively, fifty-three seventy-six components the identified using GC-MS retention indexes. main group oil needles monoterpenes, bornyl acetate constituted approximately 30% (46.3 g/100 g) oil. In oil, monoterpenes sesquiterpenes exhibited a similar content (ca. 40%). Bornyl α-pinene constituents both oils. P....
