This study explains the synthesis mechanism of (HfTiZrMnCr)B2 high entropy diboride ceramics prepared via a combined route consisting ball milling and spark plasma sintering. Firstly, metal borides were in-house synthesized using mechanochemical leaching processes under optimum conditions from oxides, B2O3 Mg precursors. The (HfTiZr)B2 composition, chosen as main was hybridized with two different methods: planetary vibratory milling. As result experiments, 6 h determined duration, all...

Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect electron beam surface melting (EBSM) on properties Plasma Transfer Arc (PTA) deposited Stellite 12 hardfacing. Design/methodology/approach For purpose, structural characterization and dry sliding wear tests have been conducted hardfacings at room temperature. tracks formed surfaces were examined by a stylus-type profilometer scanning microscope. Findings Refinement matrix carbides following EBSM process led about 15 per cent...

Biomaterials are used in different parts of human body as replacement implants medical applications. An implant material should have high biocompatibility, corrosion and wear resistance, suitable mechanical properties terms safety long-service period. There only a few biocompatible materials: AISI316L stainless steel is one the materials this type They relatively poor resistance. Boriding being thermochemical diffusion treatment processes to improve their Borides formed by introducing boron...

Electron beam surface melting has been applied as a posttreatment to plasma-transferred, arc-deposited Stellite 6 hardfacing and its molybdenum-alloyed version. Molybdenum addition increased the surface-related properties—that is, hardness wear resistance—via enriching microstructure with carbides. Application of electron caused further increment in resistance by encouraging hypereutectic solidification form network carbides surrounding cobalt matrix. However, unalloyed hardfacing, which...

A new kind of boron-added cast austenitic steel which also contained chromium, molybdenum and manganese was manufactured via vacuum induction melting followed by casting procedure. Solution annealing heat treatment performed at three different temperatures for times to dissolve eutectic M2C carbides in matrix. All the samples were rapid-cooled oil medium after solution treatment. Aging treatments carried out 1250 °C 24 hours. Hardness value decreased Transformation carbide with a hexagonal...
