Four coastal ecosystems with contrasting characteristics were sampled in Costa Rica (2000 – 2002). Oil pollution status, expressed as the fraction of dissolved/dispersed petroleum hydrocarbons related to chrysene equivalents, was determined by molecular fluorescence analytical technique. A total 130 water samples taken, from Caribbean (Moin Bay), and Pacific (Bahia Culebra, Gulf Nicoya Dulce Gulf). On one occasion, seven along Puntarenas estuary also analysed. In Moin mean standard deviation...

Anthropogenic waste water bacteriological were surveyed twice a year in 2000 2002 Rica, one the Caribbean (Moin Bay) four Pacific (Culebra Bay , Gulf Nicoya, Puntarenas Estuary, Golfito Bay). The most probable number (MPN)/100 mL coliform bacteria was calculated after incubation series test tubes. We collected total 14 two river samples Caribbean, 32 coastal, nine estuarine tap Pacific, plus 25...

Temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen and inorganic nutrients were measured at a single station in the water column (200 m) of Golfo Dulce, fjord-like embayment on Pacific coast Costa Rica, from June 1993 to September 1995. Eight sampling field trips carried out samples collected with 5 L Niskin bottles 10 m depth intervals. Temperature vertical profiles revealed thermocline between 25 60 m. Salinity evidenced surface layer containing halocline around 40 m, overlaying thick 34 ‰ top large...
