Consumption of fermented milk (FM) containing a probiotic, Lactobacillus gasseri SBT2055 (LG2055), previously showed reduction in abdominal adiposity randomised controlled trial (RCT) using FM with 10 8 colony-forming units (cfu) LG2055/g. However, whether the effectiveness is observed at lower concentrations, recommended minimum or intermediate levels probiotics (10 6 7 cfu/g, respectively), remains to be examined. A multi-centre, double-blind, parallel-group RCT was conducted 210 healthy...
n-Butanol is an important industrial chemical usually produced by the oxo process, expensive, energy-consuming set of reactions over metal catalysts, using petrochemical raw materials at high pressure. We developed nonstoichiometric hydroxyapatite (HAP), a highly active calcium phosphate compound and found it catalyzed selective conversion ethanol to n-butanol in single reaction atmospheric pressure low temperature, with maximum selectivity 76%. Higher alcohols were also formed. postulate...
The magnetic behavior of CeIn3, CePb3, and the series compounds represented by formula LnSn3 with Ln=Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd has been investigated over temperature range 2° to 300°K. Curie—Weiss was observed in upper portion for all except SmSn3, effective moments were close agreement those expected free tripositive ions. SmSn3 is attributed contribution first excited multiplet (J=7/2). Néel points PrSn3, NdSn3, SmSn3. Deviations from at low temperatures cases ascribed antiferromagnetic ordering,...
Plant-derived, dehydrated ethanol was effectively converted to biogasoline in a one-step process on highly active nonstoichiometric hydroxyapatite (HAP) catalyst. The had research octane number of 99 and comprised chiefly hydrocarbons from C6 C10 as well oxygenates not generated the methanol-to-gasoline (MTG) using zeolite. To confirm proposed scheme for synthesis gasoline over HAP, alcohol conversions were carried out paired combinations five different alcohols with ethanol. Results...
The magnetic behavior of CeP, CeAs, CeSb, PrP, PrAs, and PrSb has been investigated over the temperature range extending from 4° to 300°K. Curie—Weiss is observed for all compounds in upper portion studied with effective moments fair agreement those expected free tripositive ions. cerium have Néel points at temperatures ranging 8° 25°K. praseodymium give no evidence ordering. At low they exhibit Van Vleck temperature-independent paramagnetism. This attributed influence crystal field...
The magnetic behavior of the series lanthanide—bismuth compounds having formula LnBi was investigated over a range temperature extending from 4° to 300°K and at field strengths ranging 5 21 kOe. Ln represents Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Er. Curie—Weiss observed in upper portion covered for all except SmBi. Effective moments were obtained which close agreement with that expected theory free tripositive ions. SmBi resembles elemental Sm other intermetallics is attributed contribution first...
The lack of construction materials in the coastal areas and high cost importing good-quality soil creates need for developing new technologies to manufacture engineered fills using low-quality obtained from a seabed. This study presents results series tests conducted obtain field data related basic engineering properties geomaterial comprised mud dredged Tokyo Bay, mixed with lightweight additives, such foam or expanded polystyrol beads, portland cement as binder. Due discrepancies that may...
The aim of this study is to provide a comprehensive analysis the strength development dredged soil stabilization with different grain sizes basic oxygen furnace (BOF) slag. Laboratory vane shear (LVS) tests, unconfined compressive (UC) and flow value tests were conducted understand time-strength behavior stabilized clay. results show that was significantly affected by maximum particle sizes, despite same free lime content. An equation predict larger size from smaller proposed using modified...
Heavy rains brought about by Typhoon No. 7 and the Baiu front from July 3 to 8, 2018 caused severe damage surrounding areas, including Western Japan. Significant predominantly occurred in Hiroshima, Okayama, Ehime Prefectures 6 8. In this torrential rainfall event, was enhanced simultaneous occurrence of various disasters, debris flows, slope failures, erosion depression, flooding, driftwood, inside water inundation, extreme volume rainfall. study, outlines these geo-disasters Hiroshima...
A new strength estimation equation for cement-treated clay is proposed marine with wide ranges of sand and initial water contents. The can determine the soil by using two parameters, ratio cement content to mass fine particles in volumetric solid excluding sand, where defined as greater than 0.075 mm. series tests was performed on various cement, From test results, it found that primarily determined contents fine-grained not related particles. applicability compared existing three equations....
Three new ligustilide derivatives (3-5) were isolated from the crude drug toki, dried roots of Umbelliferae plant Angelica acutiloba, together with a known dimer, levistolide A (2), and four oxygenated derivatives, senkyunolide E (6), F (7), H (8) I (9). Compound 3 was shown to be angeloyl ester 7. Compounds 4 5, designated tokinolide B, are dimeric Diels-Alder-type (5) cyclobutane-type (4) cyclization systems, respectively. The occurrence compounds 2 9 in fresh A. acutiloba sample confirmed.
Magnetic properties of NdP, NdAs and NdSb have been investigated over the temperature range from 4°K to 300°K. The ratio susceptibility at Néel one extraporated 0°K is much larger than 3/2, suggesting that these compounds large crystal anisotropy. Metamagnetic behaviors were observed 4.2°K, product critical field was found be nearly constant 7 kOe e.m.u. per mole for all compounds. This result can explained by a simple sublattice model. value saturation magnetization anisotropy are discussed...
