Methods are developed for the resolution of cultural and biological inheritance based on qualitative data pairs relatives. Analysis schizophrenia concluded in favor significant inheritance, assortative mating familial environment unique to twins, addition inheritance. Genetic heritabilities were estimated as 0.707 ± 0.077 0.203 0.120, respectively. Familial environmental component twins was 0.090 0.040.

Summary Rice, Cloninger & Reich (1980) showed that correlational data on American I.Q. is consistent with a rather low genetic heritability. Here we confirm their general results more parsimonious model. From phenotypic alone, the estimates of and cultural heritability are 0·31 0·42, respectively. Using environmental indices, become 0·34 0·26,

PurposeTo evaluate the biomechanical effects of acellular human dermal allograft tuberoplasty (AHDAT) in a cadaveric model an irreparable supraspinatus + anterior one-half infraspinatus (stage III) rotator cuff tear.MethodsEight shoulders were tested at 20°, 40°, and 60° glenohumeral abduction (AB) 0°, 30°, 60°, 90° external rotation (ER). Superior humeral translation, acromiohumeral distance, subacromial contact quantified for 4 conditions: (1) intact, (2) stage III tear (entire...

This reanalysis of a classic survey leads to inferences about design genetic studies, resolution heterogeneity, and the role autosomal sex-linked genes in mental retardation, which is no longer refractory segregation analysis. By discriminating between sociofamilial biological types we estimate that at least 351 loci can produce with an inbred load 0.83 detrimental equivalents mutation rate 0.008 per gamete, or less than 2.4 X 10(-5) locus. The distribution probands was estimated as: 7 cent...

Abstract The Lipoprotein Family Study of Japanese‐Americans in Hawaii is described. Measured effects the behavioral, social, and physiological milieu (apart from age sex) account for little variance. Subsequent papers will consider genetic cultural causes family resemblance this material.

Abstract The question of possible heterogeneity among population groups and phenotypic on the role major gene in etiology cleft lip with or without palate [CL(P)] was examined using uniformly collected data Hawaii. Complex segregation analysis used to analyze patterns family resemblance under mixed model incorporating effects multifactorial inheritance. Analysis entire showed superior fit including both inheritance over alone alone. No significant could be detected between high‐incidence...

Gene frequencies for 32 populations show 3 Jewish and 4 gentile clusters. From phenotype the estimate of inbreeding F is .0110 in Middle East .0002 other populations. Differentiation region small (F =.026) compared with that species as a whole =.146). Kinship between appreciable within clusters but much less total groups (.004 .001, respectively). Isolation by distance similar groups. available data major appear to have undergone admixture gentiles at rate about 1% per generation, leading...

Summary Data from Neurospora , Drosophila and the mouse support mapping parameter conventionally used for man, exclude Haldane, Kosambi, Carter—Falconer functions, suggest a refinement centromere mapping. Different sexes, chromosome arms, types of data are surprisingly consistent. Double recombination frequencies accurately predicted, but triple overestimated. The appears to act on interference as an obligatory chiasma. Recombination across conforms simple approximation, based interval...

Abstract The problem of compact, fully efficient representation multilocus data has not yet been solved. Lod scores can be used to map data, but because certain statistical problems, this method loses some information. However, simulation studies show that for distances less than 10 or 20 cMo, where there is little danger huge overestimates distance, the lod score yields estimators just as good maximum likelihood (ML). Since short are most important, quite efficient. Its main drawback...

By criterion scaling and principal component analysis of performance, social class, symptoms, institutionalization, medical history, a cohort mental defectives has been divided into medical, biological, sociofamilial categories. This division, corresponding to differences in etiology severity, reveals changing patterns admission provides evidence that male excess is not primarily due sex linkage. The incidence retardation increases about 5 % with first‐cousin marriage, agreement other...
