We report here the draft genome sequence of a novel UV-resistant bacterium isolated from dry soil on south coast Puerto Rico. Based polyphasic taxonomy, strain MC1A represents new species and name Solirubrum puertoriconensis is proposed. Assembly was performed using NGEN Assembler into eight contigs (N50 = 1,292,788), largest which included 1,549,887 bp. The consists 4,810,875 bp has GC content 58.7%.
