SummaryDet. 562 is a permanent heteroploid human cell line that similar to HeLa and other lines in morphology, growth, virus susceptibility. It differs from having G-6-PD type B isozyme. The implications of this finding are discussed. importance monitoring stressed.

The discovery of a Middle to Late Triassic ( approximately 225 230 million years old) terrestrial vertebrate fauna from Madagascar is reported. This documents temporal interval not well represented by continental assemblages elsewhere in the world. It contains two new prosauropod dinosaurs, representing some earliest dinosaur occurrences known globally. assemblage provides information about poorly understood transition dinosaur-dominated faunas latest Triassic.

SummaryPolyvinyl sponges inserted under the dorsal skin of guinea pigs fill with cellular connective tissue. Dry weight granulation tissue, concentration protein, desoxyribosenucleic acid and mucopolysaccharide at intervals between 1 12 weeks are reported. Both glucosamine galactosamine were present in fraction. Evidence for presence 3 types components was obtained by chromatography carbazole/orcinol ratios. A decrease ratios suggested an increased proportion chondroitin sulfate B older granulomas.

Abstract Most laboratories using cells cultured in vitro maintain multiple cell lines. Such lines should be monitored for species and intraspecies characteristics to prevent invalidation of research work due incidents line cross‐contamination. This report describes the results obtained when 246 cultures were examined evidence cross‐contamination or mislabeling. Using species‐specific antigens, isoenzyme electrophoresis, chromosomes as markers identity, 14% submitted found contaminated by...

SummaryA procedure has been described whereby species-associated antigens were directly identified in cultured mammalian cells by fluorescent antibody techniques. Guinea pig anti-cellular globulin fractions conjugated with fluorescein isothiocyanate. Dispersed prepared from monolayer cultures or frozen cell suspensions and the resulting wet treated labeled antibodies. Staining specificity was recognized presence absence of peripheral fluorescence cells. Four strains derived human tissues, 3...

In a previous paper of this series (von Brand and Simpson, 1942) it was shown that larval Eustrongylides occurring normally in cysts Fundulus can be kept alive long time vitro various media, provided conditions remain sterile throughout the whole course experiments. A continuation amplification these studies seemed indicated, since, with exception Glaser Stoll's (1938) (1940) work on Haemonchus larvae, no data are known behavior parasitic nematodes under conditions. It becomes more evident,...

Abstract Pleistocene glacial-interglacial cycles are correlated with dramatic temperature oscillations. Examining how species responded to these natural fluctuations can provide valuable insights into the impacts of present-day anthropogenic climate change. Here we present a phylogeographic study extinct American mastodon ( Mammut americanum ), based on 35 complete mitochondrial genomes. These data reveal presence multiple lineages within this species, including two distinct clades from...

Some specimens of larval Eustrongylides ignotus could be maintained for 4 years in vitro. The worms survived long periods media showing a pronounced partial lack oxygen, but they did not tolerate complete absence oxygen very periods. Anaerobically kept seemed to feed consumed from their body reserve about three times as much glycogen starving under aerobic conditions.
