During the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, whole world faced an unusual health emergency. Medical care of chronic neurological diseases, such as Epilepsy, is being neglected. In this survey, we aimed to evaluate impact on people with Epilepsy (PwE) and identify their risk factors for seizure worsening direct better future medical care. We administered a web-based survey (submitted August 5, 2020). It included socio-demographic, Epilepsy-related, psychometric data (The Depression,...
Sedation of children for electroencephalography (EEG) recordings is often required. Chloral hydrate (CH) requires medical clearance and continuous monitoring. To try to reduce personnel time resources associated with CH administration, a new sedation policy was formulated. This study included all who underwent an EEG during consecutive 3-month period following the implementation policy, which consists sequential administration melatonin, hydroxyzine (if needed), needed). The comparator group...
Objective: To evaluate prospectively the frequency of epileptogenic lesions in a consecutive cohort elderly patients presenting with new onset unprovoked seizures, and who underwent complete evaluation including dedicated epilepsy protocol MRI. Methods materials: We included all 60 years or older participated prospective study on epilepsy. The work-up acquisition MRI 3 h video/EEG recording. evaluated types whole stratified those variables by age, gender, number seizures at presentation....
The aim of this study was to determine the frequency and characteristics secondary enuresis in children initiated on valproate treatment. This a prospective conducted aged 5 12 years with suspected newly diagnosed epilepsy maintained for at least 1 month. Adverse events spontaneously reported by parents were recorded each follow-up visit. In addition, we specifically asked about other side effects known occur treatment. We assessed its association number variables.Seventy-two (43 males 29...
We present two cases of middle-aged women who sustained definite cerebro-vascular infarctions without predisposing risk factors. Work-up did not reveal any underlying etiology. Treatment with antiplatelets and anticoagulants improved the patients’ symptoms. Two five years later, both patients developed pancreatic cancer. In this article, we discuss association between cryptogenic stroke cancer review described in literature association.
Early myoclonic encephalopathy (EME) is an epileptic characterized by highly refractory seizures and overall bad prognosis. In this report, we present infant who developed EME secondary to nonketotic hyperglycinemia. A vagus nerve stimulator inserted when the was 6 months 3-weeks-old resulted in mild psychomotor improvement a dramatic reduction seizure frequency documented closed-circuit television-electroencephalography monitoring. This youngest literature reported so far with stimulator,...
