Abstract The Neoproterozoic Sete Lagoas Formation ( ca 610 Ma) of the São Francisco Basin, Brazil, is a succession siltstone, limestone and phosphorite. Phosphorite forms part previously unrecognized 150 to 200 m thick, unconformity bounded depositional sequence.
