Abstract Using various observations and a chemistry‐climate model, this study investigates the impact of Indian Ocean sea surface temperature (SST) on wintertime total column ozone (TCO) over Tibetan Plateau (TP). Our analysis reveals that increases in TCO TP are accompanied by anomalously high SSTs, vice versa. Further SSTs narrowing northern branch Hadley cell, consequently, subtropical westerly jet Northern Hemisphere (NH) tends to shift southward. The southward can lead descent...

The interannual fluctuations of the equatorial thermocline are usually associated with El Niño activity, but linkage between modes and is still under debate. In present study, a mode function decomposition method applied to Pacific thermocline, results show that first two dominant (M1 M2) identify distinct characteristics thermocline. M1 reflects basinwide zonally tilted related eastern (EP) Niño, shoaling (deepening) in western (eastern) Pacific. M2 represents central (CP) characterized by...

This study investigates the anomalous signals near tropopause before overshooting convective system (OCS) onset over Tibetan Plateau (TP). It is found that height stable at maximum for 7th day and 5th OCS onset. then decreases significantly one on of The upward motion in troposphere strongest From after onset, there are strong ascending motions 500–300 hPa but weak descending tropopause. proposed caused by frequent fold events eastern TP associated with cold trough intrusion from north...

Abstract The Sverdrup relation is the backbone of wind-driven circulation theory; it a simple between meridional transport in upper ocean and wind stress curl. However, valid for steady only. In this study, time-dependent postulated, which sum local curl term time-delayed representing effect eastern boundary condition. As an example, evaluated through its application to equatorial Indian Ocean, using reanalysis data reduced gravity model. Close examination reveals that southward Somali...

Abstract. The tropical western Pacific (TWP) is a preferential area of air uplifting from the surface to upper troposphere. A significantly intensified upward motion through troposphere over TWP in boreal wintertime (November March following year, NDJFM) has been detected using multiple reanalysis datasets. at rates 8.0 ± 3.1 % per decade and 3.6 3.3 NDJFM 150 hPa 1958 2017, JRA55 ERA5 datasets, while MERRA-2 data show 7.5 7.1 for period 1980–2017. In this research, we focus on detecting stress based electroencephalogram (EEG) method. An experiment has been conducted with 59 subjects, the results show that three EEG features from Fpz point, LZ-complexity, alpha relative power and ratio of to beta power, are effective respectively in detection using K-Nearest-Neighbor classifier, however Naive Bayesian classifier is not suitable for prediction data. Meanwhile, introduced index indicating level. Based these work, build a pervasive system...

Abstract The stratospheric impact of the sea surface temperature (SST) variability in Indian Ocean has attracted extensive attention. Recent warming tropical is characterized by increases both magnitude and zonal gradient, which related to positive phase basin mode (IOBM) dipole (IOD). Yet, previous studies mainly focused on IOBM. Using Whole Atmosphere Community Climate Model (version 4), this study explores IOD events stratosphere compares it with Results show that IOBM (IOD) serves dry...

Abstract It has been extensively discussed that stratospheric polar vortex significantly contribute to the variability and predictability of tropospheric weather climate over midlatitudes regions. However, we currently have little understanding exact influence on tropical troposphere. Here, responses convection Northern Hemisphere (NH) extreme events (i.e., strong [SV] weak [WV] events) are investigated in this study. We find western Pacific region is particularly noteworthy when focusing...
