This paper presents a conceptual model of the Zagreb aquifer system. The can be applied to groundwater status risk assessment and pollution at local scale, thus satisfying both environmental preventative/limitation objectives Water Framework Directive (WFD) Groundwater (GWD). Its main purpose is apply procedure, according WFD requirements, serve as foundation for setting up numerical flow in saturated unsaturated zones order identify pressure impact effects on quality. divided into two...

The selection of raw materials for ancient pottery production was influenced by a variety technological and cultural factors, underscoring the importance characterising these to understand technology societies. This research examines ceramics from two multi-period archaeological sites: Staro Čiče-Gradišće (Neolithic, Copper Age, Copper/Early Bronze Early Late Roman period, Mediaeval period) Kurilovec-Belinščica (Early Age Middle/Late Age), alongside potential clayey collected near...

Abstract The objective of this work was to build a prognostic water flow model and potentially toxic elements (lead, cadmium, zinc) transport in the unsaturated zone. Research conducted catchment area Kosnica regional wellfield, where zone is characterised by Fluvisol. Lower sorption capacities were determined first horizons for all three elements. Correlation coefficient measured simulated values tracer concentration 0.58 AC horizon 0.84 2C/C1 horizon. Based on calibrated parameters, built....

Flysch deposits that crop out in the elongated coastal area of Vinodol Valley (External Dinarides), and particularly Slani Potok ('Salty Creek') catchment, are characterized by excessive erosion. Formation badlands, creeping sliding processes have been related to crystallization thenardite. Unusually intense erosion is caused dispersive effect sodium on clay particles (derived from pelitic flysch intervals) solution, as well expansion thenardite during transformation into a deckahydrate...

A soil geochemical survey of the city Sisak, Croatia, and its surroundings was done to determine concentration, spatial distribution sources elements in soil. Factor analysis indicates 8 factors describe variations topsoil: 4 anthropogenic, 2 geogenic mixed ones. The main influence urban rural soils parent material anthropogenic inputs old part city, along roads railways, industrial areas. results indicate that are a very good media for accumulating trace

Iron (oxy)hydroxides play an important role in a variety of disciplines, among others, environmental and exploration geochemistry, mineralogy, geology soil science. In selective leaching procedures, either for the removal (oxy)hydroxide prior to clay minerals analysis or determination metals reducible soil/sediment fractions, it is very preserve entire undissolved residue. Therefore, objectives study were: (1) fi nd most eff ective reagent rinsing method which follow dissolution...

Abstract Environmental geology is scientific discipline dealing with the interactions between humans and geologic environment. Many natural hazards, which have great impact on their environment, are caused by geological settings. On other hand, human activities physical especially in last decades due to dramatic population growth. Natural disasters often hit densely populated areas causing tremendous death toll material damage. Demand for resources enhanced remarkably, as well waste...

Consideration of multiperiod archaeological sites to understand the mechanisms large-scale cultural changes is still a very rare research topic in Croatia. Technological traditions are great importance, especially context considering continuity, innovation, and change. In this paper, we used an archaeometric approach investigate pottery technology. Therefore, article presents analysis petrography mineralogy ceramics potential raw materials collected vicinity multi-period site (the Neolithic...
