Introducing chirality into photomechanical crystals is beneficial for the diversification of mechanical motion. Measurement chiroptical and optical anisotropic properties chiral indispensable evaluating crystals. The platelike S- R-enantiomers photochromic N-3,5-di-tert-butylsalicylidene-1-phenylethylamine in enol form (enol-(S)-1 enol-(R)-1) caused bending motion with twisting upon ultraviolet (UV) light irradiation, due to shrinkage along length width directions irradiated surface, based...
The collective intermolecular dynamics of protein and water molecules, which overlap in the sub-terahertz (THz) frequency region, are relevant for expressing functions but remain largely unknown. This study used dielectric relaxation (DR) measurements to investigate how externally applied sub-THz electromagnetic fields perturb rapid influence considerably slower chemical processes protein-water systems. We analyzed an aqueous lysozyme solution, whose hydration is not thermally equilibrated....
To solve the deterioration of water resource environment, on-site production technologies have garnered attention. Here, we demonstrate example pressure-induced using a copper–chromium Prussian blue analog...
Abstract Hydrotalcite-like compounds (HT), layered double hydroxides with a few kinds of interlayer anions (X=CO32−, Cl−, and NO3−) were allowed to react acrylate in order prepare novel inorganic–organic interstratified material by anion exchange. When HT–CO3 was used the exchange reaction did not occur. HT–NO3 employed proceeded form HT–acrylate intercalation compound. The formation compound from HT–Cl observed only under condition using concentrated solution. heated at 80 °C addition an...
Changes in the ultraviolet absorption spectrum took place when coupling factor 1 of spinach chloroplasts (CF1) was mixed with ATP or ADP. The difference had a maximum at about 278 nm and minimum 250 nm. profile inidcates shift ADP bound to CF1. ratio maximal absorbance change CF1 that wavelength 0.027–0.048. molar concentration nucleotide required give 2–3 times Ca2− Mg2+ present. AMP induced no significant spectral change. When added, reached plateau within few minutes if Mg2− Ca2+ by only...
The authors have analytically studied the experimental results of nanosecond surface discharge by using a simulation model. used were obtained dust figure technique with square pulse generator under following conditions: an applied voltage 5–20 kV, width 3, 5, 8,..., 920 ns, and gas pressure 50, 100, 150,..., 760 Torr. Three kinds models used: first was based on continuity equations together Poisson’s equation, without any photoionization effects; second examined effect model; third...
Applicability of the bioscorodite method (use thermo-acidophilic Fe(II)-oxidizing archaeon Acidianus brierleyi for arsenic (As) oxidation and immobilization at 70 °C) was tested synthetic copper refinery wastewaters a wide range dilute initial As(III) concentrations ([As(III)]ini = 3.3–20 mM) with varying [Fe(II)]/[As(III)] molar ratios ([Fe(II)]ini/[As(III)]ini 0.8–6.0). Crystallization scorodite (FeAsO4·2H2O) tends to become increasingly challenging more solutions. Optimization conditions...
Crystal specimens of the γ-polymorph achiral glycine which crystallize in space groups P31 and P32 as determined by anomalous X-ray scattering method are shown to be laevorotatory dextrorotatory, respectively, optical rotation crystals.
A free-electron laser (FEL) is a robust tool for studying the interaction of intense X-rays with matter. In this study, we investigate damage threshold and morphology fused silica irradiated by extreme ultraviolet femtosecond pulses FEL. The experimental results indicate superiority FEL processing. FEL-damage at wavelength 13.5 nm 0.17 J/cm2, which 20 times lower than that near infrared (NIR) laser. relationship between crater depth fluence reveals effective absorption length αeff−1 = 58 nm....
Natural circular dichroism (CD) of alanine (Ala) and valine (Val) films were measured in vacuum ultraviolet region using a polarizing undulator as circularly polarized light source. Compared with absorption spectra, CD spectra showed clear differences between Ala Val films. In order to explain these differences, time-dependent density functional theory was applied calculated spectra. The good agreement the experimental
A series of natural circular dichroism (CD) and absorption spectra for films α-aliphatic amino acids—such as alanine, aminobutyric acid, norvaline, norleucine, valine, leucine, isoleucine—in the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) region were observed with absolute values optical constants at undulator-based CD beamline TERAS BL5. Preliminary predictions some also performed, based on quantum-chemical calculations using crystal structure. Although show similar features to each other, significant...
TiS 2 was reduced using molten salt electrolysis. At 1173 K in CaCl -0.5mol% CaS melt, the concentration of sulfur initially decreased significantly. 0.043 mass% S obtained when stoichiometric electric charge Q 0 supplied, and 0.01 achieved = 4Q . Only α-Ti identified by XRD at ≥ Metallic Ti its lower oxides were , but no sulfide could be found. It is possible to achieve excellent removal a minimum larger Q, use promising for new process titanium refining.
Oxygen K-edge X-ray absorption near edge structures (XANES) spectra of amino acids (glycine, L-alpha-alanine, beta-alanine, L-serine, L-asparic acid and L-tyrosine) were measured. Several peaks XANES successfully assigned on the basis DV-Xalpha calculation.
Abstract The advanced high-accuracy universal polarimeter (HAUP) method was applied to observe anisotropic and chiroptical properties of an intercalated azobenzene derivative compound into K 4 Nb 6 O 17 crystals. Prior the HAUP measurement compound, we extended employing a conventional light source system composed Xe or D 2 lamps monochromator instead laser system. performance evaluated determined parasitic ellipticities cross polarizers, which are essential for obtaining accurate values....
Circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy in the soft x-ray energy region is a new tool to study local structure of chiral materials. In this paper, we introduce method measure high-quality CD spectra oxygen K-edge region. Characteristic thin films amino acids L-tyrosine and L-aspartic acid are reported compared with those L-alanine L-serine. The signals from 1s → π* transitions COO−, which common moiety these acids, reflect geometry each acid.
