Boussinesq- type wave models have the accuracy to resolve propagation in coastal zones, having ability capture nearshore dynamics that include both nonlinear and dispersive effects for relatively short waves. The of Boussinesq over their counterparts which utilize non- linear shallow water (NLSW) equations provides a clear advantage studying processes. However, computational expense finding solution NLSW hinders fast and/ or real time simulation using models.
On January 15, 2022, the eruption of Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai volcano created a tsunami that reached height 20.5 m in near field. The impacted entire Pacific Ocean basin and was largest to impact California since 2011 Tōhoku tsunami. Videos recorded on surfcams during event were downloaded from three sites along coast (Santa Cruz, Pismo Beach, Santa Barbara Harbor). Airborne Lidar data, shadow projections, vessel traffic information used rectify imagery instead traditional field methods....
