Hysteresis losses in the heat transfer between compressing or expanding gas and adjacent wall is said to play an important role Stirling machines, where it increases amount of required p-V work. Previous studies have linked hysteresis loss with pressure phase shift. In context this research, effect shift on net work a single space examined. A Sage model piston-cylinder device used investigate underlying mechanisms The validated using experimental piston seal rig. addition, time dependence...

The incidence of melanoma in children is extremely rare. However, there convincing evidence supporting a higher risk developing individuals who have experienced excessive sun exposure during their childhood. A possible explanation for this phenomenon that prior to puberty, the melanocyte stem cells bulge region hair follicles are much shallower dermis, resulting increased vulnerability exposure. To validate hypothesis, Monte Carlo simulation light transport applied quantify dose solar UV...

This paper investigates the effect of an ultrasound field on evaporation water droplets into air stream flowing along a conduit. The and droplet mixture (aerosol) is passed through intense field, generated in cylindrical sonotrode, effort to accelerate process. improvement was evaluated by measuring changes size distribution humidity temperature. It found that at high power levels were rapidly completely vaporized. At 2–20 W range there significant increase evaporation, up 28%, but also some...

There is an increased risk of melanoma in adulthood when a child (pre-puberty) has been exposed to high levels ultraviolet radiation (UVR). It also hypothesized that the childhood body air (vellus hair) plays role incidence later life. This attributed fact vellus hair properties and physiology which encourage transmission harmful energy into follicle ultimately cause damage stem cells residence there. Later life these damaged become involved generation melanomas epidermis. debated whether...

Experimental data for the evaporation of micron-size, poly-disperse water droplets into air has been generated in order to validate a theoretical droplet model. The model considers and flowing along tube predicts changes sizes temperatures as well temperature humidity functions distance tube. There are small discrepancies between experimental results which can be explained terms lack mixing stream also possible settling larger apparatus.

Three methods of determining the droplet size distribution in aerosols are investigated. These based on using photography, impact/capture and optics, respectively, to determine an air-water aerosol produced from ultrasonic atomization device. Comparison is made between these required procedure, equipment used results obtained. An optical method, laser diffraction, stands out terms accuracy ease use although it requires relatively expensive equipment.

A model for the evaporation of micron-size, poly-disperse water droplets into air has been developed that allows prediction droplet size distribution changes during evaporation. The incorporates either adiabatic or isothermal boundary conditions and variation fluid transport thermodynamic properties process. governing equations are from coupled mass energy balances surrounding assuming they flowing along a tube diffusion conduction heat transfer processes predominate. Droplet sizes...

Melanoma is one of the most severe types skin cancer. Although it generally believed that ultraviolet radiation (UVR) main environmental causative risk factor in induction melanoma, cells origin and mechanisms melanoma remain unclear. Recent studies show melanocyte stem hair follicles could be upon exposure to radiation. Red usually considered as factors for melanoma. Therefore, interest investigate UV transmission characteristics hairs from red-hair individuals. In this article, measurement...

Abstract The role human hair plays on the solar ultraviolet (UV) transmission in skin has been investigated regarding melanoma development our previous work. Melanoma is the severest type of skin cancer. As distinct from many other cancer types, incidence melanoma has been increasing steadily over last century. Discovering new risk factors will not only raise public awareness but also potentially contribute to improvement protection in future. Nowadays, tendency shaving hair becoming increasingly popular for aesthetic purposes. However, human serves several functions, one which ultraviolet (UV) skin. What more, stem cells found follicles could be...
