Phylogenetic relationships among subgroups of cockroaches and termites are still matters debate. Their divergence times major phenotypic transitions during evolution also not yet settled. We addressed these points by combining the first nuclear phylogenomic study with a thorough approach to time analysis, identification endosymbionts, reconstruction ancestral morphological traits behaviour. Analyses phylogenetic within Blattodea robustly confirm previously uncertain hypotheses such as...

We report Blattodean taxa collected from three regions in Guyana. Our analyses associated with these specimens provide new geographic records, species descriptions, ecological information and genetic information. on the genera Lamproblatta, Eublaberus, Epilampra, Dasyblatta, Ischnoptera, Xestoblatta, Dendroblatta Euphyllodromia. These include two species, nine records for Guyana four Guiana Shield entirely. also photographs, measurements, some biological our specimens.

The fossil species Prochaeradodis enigmaticusPiton, 1940, from Menat (France, Paleocene) has been regarded as a crown-Mantodea (praying mantis) and was subsequently used one of the very few temporal calibration points relevant for order. Ambiguities in previous descriptions prompted us to re-examine type material. Based on our new observations broad comparative analysis across Dictyoptera, we recognized three independent morphological character states supporting an unequivocal placement...

Abstract Phylogenomics seeks to use next‐generation data robustly infer an organism's evolutionary history. Yet, the practical caveats of phylogenomics motivate investigation improved efficiency, particularly when quality phylogenies are questionable. To achieve improvements, one goal is maintain or enhance phylogenetic inference while severely reducing dataset size. We approach this by assessing which kinds loci in phylogenomic alignments provide majority support for a cockroaches...

Recently, specimens of a Periplaneta sp. were discovered in New York, NY, that did not match the typical morphology americana L., ubiquitous American cockroach. Here, we used DNA barcoding and morphological identification to confirm this newly invasive pest species was indeed japonica Karny, 1908. Abstract Cockroaches (Order: B lattodea) comprise a taxon that, although very abundant in tropical forests, remains largely unstudied. Making sense of the diversity species is challenging task hindered by large numbers and abundance cryptic or polymorphic forms. Here, we estimated richness cockroaches (s.s.) from northern G uyana while applying method to deal with these confounding factors. We utilized two interpretations data, first using only morphological information, second both genetic...

Abstract Despite regular advances in Blattodea systematics, several relationships remain controversial or untested formal phylogenetic reconstructions. This common situation for understudied metazoan groups limits our power to answer questions about phenotypic evolution. In this study, we infer the evolutionary history of using newly sampled taxa that improve resolution while also illuminating an unusual phenotype—the apically folded hind-wing. Taxa sequenced include those with a hind-wing...

Thus, several studies addressed the function of blattodean head, cockroach serves as a model for standard mouthparts text books. However, so far only two three major lineages Blattodea have been studied no detailed information head any Corydioidea was available.
