We propose a depolarizer based on the principle of collection half-wave plates with randomly distributed optic axes. The design is demonstrated by means dynamically photopatterning liquid crystal into aligned homogeneous domains. characterize for 1550 nm and C-band (1520–1610 nm). A degree polarization less than 5% obtained any linearly polarized light. This study provides practical candidate high-performance depolarizers.

Infrared broadband absorbers are in great demand various applications, such as integration into uncooled infrared detectors and microbolometers. In this thesis, we demonstrate compare three different design methods: coupling multi-sized resonators, inlaying metallic structures the dielectric layer choosing laminated layers made of lossless lossy materials. Due to their absorption mechanisms, initially propose a W/ZnTe/W/Ge/W an embedded Ti/Si/Ti absorber, both which can achieve...

Continuous basalt fiber is an emerging high-performance foundational material that can be widely used in fields such as road construction, energy conservation and environmental protection, aerospace, military equipment, marine ships. However, it difficult for existing processing techniques to form continuous architectures with three-dimensional (3D) complex shapes. In addition, the fibers are filled polymers, which cannot fully utilize performance of fibers. Therefore, here, we report...

We describe a simple method to fabricate blazed gratings used in the extreme ultraviolet wavelength region. The uses an argon and oxygen mixed-gas ion beam directly etch grating substrate through rectangular profile photoresist mask. With this etched groove can be well controlled. An Mo/Si multilayer-coated specimen with blaze angle of 1.9° was fabricated measured. At incident 10° 13.62 nm, diffraction efficiency negative second order reaches 36.2%.

Abstract A metamaterial absorber is proposed that functions in the medium‐ (3–5 µm) and long‐wavelength (8–12 infrared (medium‐wavelength infrared, MWIR, LWIR, respectively) regions. The design, which consists of periodic cells, can be tuned to achieve single‐band or dual‐band light absorption by changing periodicity structure. Each cell forming a bottom metal plate (Al), top disk (Ti), an intermediate dielectric medium (Si ZnS) (Ti) embedded. For period 0.85 µm, achieves broadband LWIR...

Recent reports on the selective laser melting (SLM) process under a vacuum or low ambient pressure have shown fewer defects and better surface quality of as-printed products. Although physical SLM in has been investigated by high-speed imaging, underlying mechanisms governing heat transfer molten flow are still not well understood. Herein, we first developed mesoscopic model variable based our recent laser-welding studies. We simulated transport phenomena 316L stainless steel powders...
