Background: Robotic-assisted thoracic surgery (RATS) has seen increasing interest in the last few years, with most procedures primarily being performed conventional multiport manner. Our team developed a new approach that potential to convert surgeons from uniportal video-assisted (VATS) or open robotic-assisted surgery, uniportal-RATS (U-RATS). We aimed evaluate outcomes of one single incision, (OSI-RATS) against standard RATS (M-RATS) regards safety, feasibility, surgical technique,...

Respiratory diseases in their broad diversity need appropriate model systems to understand the underlying mechanisms and enable development of new therapeutics. Additionally, registration substances requires risk assessment with adequate testing avoid individuals being harmed, for example, working environment. Such assessments are usually conducted animal studies. In view 3Rs principle public skepticism against experiments, human alternative methods, such as precision-cut lung slices (PCLS),...

Pulmonary Fibrosis (PF) is a life-threatening illness that characterized by progressive scarring in the lung interstitium. There an urgent need for new PF therapies because current treatments only slow down progression of fibrosis and median life expectancy post-diagnosis 4 to 6 years. Since patients frequently exhibit telomere attrition, overexpressing telomerase, enzyme responsible synthesizing telomeres represents compelling therapeutic option. In this study, we vitro transcribed human...

Introduction: Lung volume reduction surgery (LVRS) is an important treatment option for patients with advanced emphysema and typically performed in a non-anatomical fashion. This study reports the outcome of anatomical LVRS by means uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic (VATS). Methods: We retrospectively evaluated who underwent between June 2017 September 2023 at our institution. Patient characteristics, including demographic data, lung function, as well morbidity mortality were extracted...

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for about 85% of cancers, and is the leading cause tumor-related death. Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) most prevalent subtype NSCLC. Although significant progress LUAD treatment has been made under multimodal strategies, prognosis advanced still poor due to recurrence metastasis. There a lack reliable markers evaluate prognosis. This study aims explore novel biomarkers construct prognostic model predict patients.

Non-intubated uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (niVATS) is a novel approach to major and minor lung resection. It benefits from holistic anesthesiological concept with adequate pain relief sedation in minimal-invasive setup allowing thoracic procedures under spontaneous breathing. At present no gold standard for niVATS exists. The exploration of RV pathogenesis has been hampered by lack disease-relevant model systems.
