The COVID-19 (coronavirus disease-19) pandemic affected more than 180 million people around the globe, causing five deaths as of January 2022. SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2), new coronavirus, has been identified primary cause infection. number vaccinated is increasing; however, prophylactic drugs are highly demanded to ensure secure social contact. A drug molecules have repurposed fight against SARS-CoV-2, and some them proven be effective in preventing...
In this study, 26 blood samples were collected from 25 healthy cats and one cat with clinical signs suggestive of feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), namely, fever, weight loss, enlarged abdomen, ascites. Blood tested for coronavirus (FCoV) messenger RNA (mRNA) by an reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) assay which has previously been described to have a high specificity in the diagnosis FIP [Simons AF, Vennema H, Rofina JE, Pol JM, Horzinek MC, Rottier PJM, Egberink HF...
To determine why serum from small ruminants infected with ruminant pestiviruses reacted positively to classical swine fever virus (CSFV)-specific diagnostic tests, we analyzed 2 Turkey. They differed genetically and antigenically known Pestivirus species were closely related CSFV. Cross-reactions would interfere diagnosis in pigs.
Domestic cat hepadnaviruses (DCHs) have been described as a novel virus that can infect cats. The aim of our study is the first identification and molecular characterizations DCH infection in Turkish domestic blood, organ ascites fluid samples from 550 cats were randomly sampled. The presence nucleic acid was investigated by using both literature newly designed primers. It found hepadnavirus positivity rate 4% (22/550) Türkiye. full genomic characterization performed on 13 22 samples, others...
The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) recently a global pandemic with unprecedented public health, economic and social impact. development of effective mitigation strategies, therapeutics vaccines relies on detailed genomic biological characterization the regional viruses. This study was carried out to isolate SARS-CoV-2 viruses circulating in Anatolia, investigate virus propagation frequently-used cells experimental animals. We obtained two from nasopharngeal...
The equid herpesvirus 2 (EHV-2) and 5 (EHV-5), identified agents of respiratory infections keratoconjunctivitis cases in some equids, comprise a high degree antigenic heterogeneity. Prevalence genetic characterization EHV-2 EHV-5 strains from Turkey were investigated this study. A total 73 nasal swabs 54 blood specimens sampled horses with tract diseases characterized by mucopurulent discharge occasional coughing. Overall, EHV-2- EHV-5-specific DNA amplicons obtained 19.2% (14/73) 21.9%...
This study provides data about canine parvovirus (CPV) types circulating among dogs in Turkey. Sixty-five samples from with and without clinical signs of infection were collected between April 2009 February 2010. The subsequently tested for CPV using polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Twenty-five (38.4%) positive; when positive characterized by sequence analysis, results showed that both CPV-2a (17/25, 68%) CPV-2b (8/25, 32%) strains are domestic is the first molecular characterization CPVs...
The present study describes the pathologic changes and cellular apoptosis in central nervous system (CNS) of fetal neonatal small ruminants infected with border disease virus (BDV), as demonstrated by immunohistochemistry situ hybridization. Abortions ewes goats were observed, births lambs kids poor survival rates signs. Lesions included cerebellar hypoplasia, porencephaly, hydranencephaly, nonsuppurative meningoencephalomyelitis hypomyelinogenesis. Viral antigens RNA neuropil, glial,...
Forty pestivirus isolates sampled from cattle in Turkey between 2002 and 2007 were characterized according to 5′ untranslated region (5′UTR) sequences autoprotease (Npro) gene sequences. The sampling of Bovine virus diarrhoea viruses (BVDVs) 15 farms five different regions indicated that BVDV 1-l (18/40, 45%) was the predominant genotype Turkey; samples also contained genotypes 1-f (10/40, 25%), 1-b (7/40, 17.5%), 1-d (3/40, 7.5%), 1-a (2/40, 5%), respectively.
We described the aetiological agents of outbreaks bovine ephemeral fever (BEF) that occurred in 1985 and 2012 Turkey, identify mutations viruses from both outbreaks. Outbreaks have emerged periodically every 4–5 years same regions Turkey. Because these are located a subtropical climatic zone, good conditions for vector populations exist. The results this study show BEFVs Turkey vary significantly. Effective prevention will require vaccine contains different genetic clusters.
ABSTRACT We report here the complete genome sequence of pestivirus strain Aydin/04-TR, which is prototype a group similar viruses currently present in sheep and goats Turkey. Sequence data from this virus showed that it clusters separately established previously proposed tentative species.
In order to assess the efficacy of a two-step vaccination protocol with respect foetal protection against transplacental infections bovine virus diarrhoea (BVDV) special attention BVDV-2 seronegative heifers were vaccinated an inactivated BVDV-1 vaccine and boostered modified live after 4 weeks. A second group was left unvaccinated as control. Between days 30 120 pregnancy both groups intranasally challenged mixture -2. All gave birth nine clinically healthy, (precolostral) BVDV-free calves....
SUMMARY The epidemiological information has not been available on the seroprevalence of agents causing abortion and genital tract infection in indigenous goats Eastern South-eastern regions Turkey, yet. In these regions, have importance for local economy their production meat, milk mohair. There are also differences husbandry climate conditions between two regions. objective this study was to describe distribution antibodies involving Bluetongue (BT), Bovine viral diarrhoea virus (BVDV),...
This study describes the clinicopathologic findings in naturally occurring West Nile virus (WNV) infection horses. WNV was diagnosed a foal by immunohistochemical and situ hybridization methods, presence of antibodies detected 5 other horses with clinical signs suggestive infection. At necropsy foal, lymph nodes were edematous enlarged, intestines showed diffuse congestion focal hemorrhages. The most significant histologic lesions this case nonsuppurative meningoencephalomyelitis,...
