Permafrost warming has the potential to amplify global climate change, because when frozen sediments thaw it unlocks soil organic carbon. Yet date, no globally consistent assessment of permafrost temperature change been compiled. Here we use a data set time series from Global Terrestrial Network for evaluate across regions period since International Polar Year (2007-2009). During reference decade between 2007 and 2016, ground near depth zero annual amplitude in continuous zone increased by...

The history of permafrost landscape map compilation is related to the study ecological problems with permafrost. Permafrost-landscape studies are now widely used in geocryological mapping. classifications and mapping necessary for studying trends development natural environment northern high-altitude regions. cryogenic factor zone plays a leading role differentiation landscapes, so it must be considered during classification construction. In this study, map’s special content was developed...

Abstract Permafrost, known for its high sensitivity to climate change and human activities, plays a crucial role in comprehending the environmental sustainability of Arctic cities. Yakutsk, being largest city situated continuous permafrost, has suffered irreversible damage surface buildings due widespread permafrost thaw. Therefore, it is imperative conduct detailed monitoring assessment deformation ensure stable operation building facilities plan urban development above permafrost. This...

This article presents the results of geocryological studies Tokarikan and Guvilgra grabens Aldan Shield. Expedition research on hard-to-rich region since 1996 has allowed us to determine temperature regime, thickness, nature permafrost rock distribution characterize its conditions for first time. We have established that lowest temperatures (up –3.4 °С) are characteristic peatmoss bog landscapes, whereas highest (–0.5 well-drained watershed areas. The measurements in deep wells, information...

Since the 1990s, climate variability has significantly increased, revealing various climatic anomalies. A clear trend of rising air temperatures been observed in permafrost zone and its adjacent areas, adversely affecting state frozen soils. Consequently, it is becoming increasingly important to assess thermal stability soils light current change. As a result, crucial evaluate these context ongoing geothermal criterion (G k ) suggested impact change on temperature regime areas with...

By analyzing the last 50–60 years of climate changes in Arctic and Subarctic Yakutia, we have identified three distinct periods development. The cold (1965–1987), pre-warming (1988–2004), modern warming (2005–2023) are clearly identifiable. Yakutia’s regions experienced mean annual air temperature increases 2.5 °C 2.2 °C, respectively, compared to period. thawing index rose by an average 171–214 °C-days, while freezing dropped 564–702 °C-days. During period, all characteristics show a minor...

Automobile roads in cryolithic zone disctinctly continental climate conditions are subject to significantly greater adverse thermal impacts, such as high diurnal temperature variations, than similar structures milder climates. This requires higher expenses on exploitation and maintenance of the automobile roads. It is possible mitigate these negative impacts rapid changes, reducing costs improving safety road use, through application protection. This contribution explores protection using...
