Developing a comprehensive and reliable taxonomy for the Colletotrichum gloeosporioides species complex will require adopting data standards on basis of an understanding how methodological choices impact morphological evaluations phylogenetic inference. We explored in molecular evaluation associated with banana Brazil. The choice alignment filtering algorithm has significant topological inference retention phylogenetically informative sites. Similarly, marker affects delimitation boundaries,...

ABSTRACT During the summer of 2019, spots were detected on leaves black olive ( Bucida buceras L.) trees distributed in urban areas Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico. Two single‐spore isolates obtained and identified as Colletotrichum siamense by phylogenetic analyses concatenated sequences ITS, gapdh , tub2 act chs‐1 gs genes. The pathogenicity was demonstrated through inoculations under controlled conditions. This is first report C. causing leaf spot Mexico worldwide.

Anthracnose, caused by Colletotrichum musae, is the most important postharvest disease of banana and widely distributed among production regions in Brazil. Although thiophanate-methyl a fungicide frequently used Brazilian orchards to control Sigatoka leaf spot, Collettotrichum populations are also exposed, resulting evolution resistance inability manage anthracnose. We investigated 139 isolates C. musae for sensitivity vitro. The 50% mycelial growth inhibition (EC50) values varied between...

Papaya fruits (Carica papaya L.) (cv. Golden) showing post-harvest anthracnose symptoms were observed during surveys of disease in northeastern Brazil from 2008 to 2012. Fruits affected by showed sunken, prominent, dark brown black lesions. Small pieces (4 5 mm) necrotic tissue surface sterilized for 1 min 1.5% NaOCl, washed twice with sterile distilled water, and plated onto potato dextrose agar (PDA) amended 0.5 g liter-1 streptomycin sulfate. Macroscopic colony characters microscopic...

Vitis vinifera cv. BRS Vitória is a seedless black table grape cultivar with an extremely pleasant flavor and adapted to cultivation in all Brazilian regions. Between November December 2021, berries presenting typical ripe rot symptoms were found three vineyards located Petrolina, Pernambuco Brazil. The first are small depressed lesions on berries, tiny acervuli. As the disease progress, enlarge affect whole fruit, abundant orange masses of conidia can be observed. Finally, become completely...

Anthracnose is one of the most important diseases lima bean in Brazil. Previously, disease was attributed exclusively to Colletotrichum truncatum. Therefore, this work aimed characterize diversity, prevalence, and virulence spp. associated with anthracnose Here, we report species C. truncatum, brevisporum, lobatum, plurivorum, musicola association bean. All were pathogenic In addition, several strains found that represent novel lineages, presented here as lineages 1 5. truncatum prevailing...

Abstract Hymenaea stigonocarpa , popularly known as ‘jatobá’ or ‘jatobá‐do‐cerrado’, is a native plant widely distributed across Brazilian Cerrado areas. This used for urban afforestation, human and animal feeding, industry. Foliar lesions resembling anthracnose symptoms were observed on H. in natural habitats nurseries. Microscopic examination of acervuli indicated Colletotrichum species the cause symptoms. Based multilocus phylogenetic analyses including data from APN2, APN2‐MAT/IGS, CAL,...

Abstract In September 2022, symptoms of leaf anthracnose were observed on desert rose ( Adenium obesum ) plants distributed in parks and gardens Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico. Two morphotypes Colletotrichum isolates obtained from symptomatic tissues. Based morphological characterization combination with multilocus phylogenetic analyses including data internal transcribed spacer, actin, glyceraldehyde‐3‐phosphate dehydrogenase, β‐tubulin, pathogenicity tests, it was confirmed that C . siamense...

In January 2011, leaves of several daylily (Hemerocallis flava L.) plants in nurseries Vitória da Conquista, northeastern Brazil, showed typical anthracnose symptoms. Reddish brown lesions with a yellow halo were first observed at the tip leaves. As disease progressed, rapidly expanded down leaves, resulting severe blight. Small pieces up to 5 mm diameter removed from lesion margins, surface sterilized for 1 min 1.5% NaOCl, washed twice sterile distilled water, and plated onto potato...
