Background and Aim Endoscopic ultrasonography ( EUS )‐guided drainage ‐D) has become the standard treatment for peripancreatic fluid collections. Its use in other intra‐abdominal abscesses been reported, although there is limited evidence. Methods We carried out a single‐center retrospective cohort study comparing percutaneous PCD ) ‐D of upper abdominal between January 2012 June 2017. Pancreatic collections liver transplant recipients were excluded. Primary endpoints technical clinical...
Background and Aim Endoscopic ultrasound‐guided gallbladder drainage (EUS‐GBD) is an emerging option for acute cholecystitis in non‐surgical candidates. Combining endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) common bile duct stones with EUS‐GBD a single session might become management strategy to comprehensively treat gallstone disease selected patients. Methods Single‐center retrospective cohort study comparing outcomes between alone (group A) single‐session ERCP combined B)....
Endoscopic ultrasound-guided gallbladder drainage (EUS-GBD) has proved effective in patients with cholecystitis at high surgical risk. The long-term risks of gallstone-related disease and stent-related adverse events are unknown. We performed a retrospective evaluation case series including subjects who underwent EUS-GBD using lumen-apposing metal stents (LAMS). Patients were identified from prospective LAMS registry single tertiary center. stent indwell time <1 year excluded. Data regarding...
We present the case of an 82-year-old man with a history heart failure, mitral regurgitation, type 2 DM, hypertension, dilated cardiomyopathy and paroxysmal atrial flutter. The patient was under treatment Sintrom. presented to emergency department due melenic depositions one day evolution dietary vomiting. There no rectal bleeding admitted three months previously self-limited melena normal gastroscopy. Anemia 8 g overdose Sintrom diagnosed. A gastroscopy performed large duodenal diverticulum...
Background and study aims Zenker's diverticulum may cause disabling symptoms, especially in the elderly. Treatment has changed recent decades from open surgery to management with flexible endoscopy, resulting lower morbidity mortality. The goal of this was present largest series, longest follow-up, patients receiving outpatient treatment endoscopy using a diverticuloscope Ligasure (Covidien, Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States), device that allows tissue sealing coagulation vessels before...
Bleeding complications are well known in the context of acute pancreatitis however, intramural hematomas superior gastrointestinal tract rare. The treatment choice, absence active bleeding or other complications, must be conservative, resulting spontaneous resolution hematoma most cases.
LAMS have been recently introduced, presenting promising results in intraabdominal drainages and endoscopic anastomoses. A variety of TIs might appear but we lack a common terminology to address them their consequences on outcomes are unknown.
Although percutaneous drainage (PTD) is recommended as first line treatment for intraabdominal abscesses, EUS-guided (EUS-D) has been successfully employed in hepatic and postsurgical abscesses. We aimed at comparing safety, feasibility clinical outcomes of upper abdominal abscesses undergoing or drainage.
