Abstract Melt Fe 3+ /Fe T ratios are widely used as a proxy for the oxygen fugacity ( f O 2 ) in magma systems. A particular challenge is difficulty quantifying 2+ and contents, which not easily measurable by conventional techniques. Using Mn–Fe exchange coefficient (KD) between olivine (ol) melt (m), this study develops novel approach to problem using relationship of / = 1 − * /Mn ol )/( m ).
