Heat and mass transfer in a porous media model was applied to simulate the drying of cotton fabric stenter using finite element method. The influence ambient conditions on performance investigated. also predicted how much natural gas could be saved when exhaust heat recovered. Moisture temperature profiles were calculated it observed that represented real process adequately. Simulation results showed consumption increased by 5.3% simulation operation cold air recovery 19–64% gas.

In this work tracer diffusion coefficients of linalool in supercritical carbon dioxide were measured at 313.15, 323.15, and 333.15 K pressures from (12−20) MPa using the chromatographic peak broadening technique. Linalool was chosen because it is one most important components flavor fragrance citrus essential oil. The influence pressure, temperature, density on examined, as well hydrodynamic behavior. applicability following models evaluated: Wilke−Chang, Hayduk−Minhas, He−Yu−Su,...

Abstract Red cabbage has a high content of anthocyanin and it may become an important source this pigment. Common extraction methods are not selective, great quantity sugar is co‐extracted with the dye. This work used adsorption‐desorption process on Amberlite XAD7 Sephadex LH20 resins to partially purify anthocyanins present in whole juice red cabbage. Both succeeded anthocyanins, producing solutions up 0.5 g L−1 sugars from initial concentration more than 25 L−1. Using was possible recover...

This work proposed a mathematical model for describing the drying of porous media submitted to microwave heating under vacuum. The was based on multiphase flow inside in which non-equilibrium formulation described moisture phase change. numerical solution used finite element method, and experimental ceramic samples made sintered glass microspheres validated simulated kinetics. After (1st phase), it observed two rate periods where water left medium mainly as liquid 2nd phase, vapor 3rd phase....

Abstract No analytical solution exists for two‐dimensional, axisymmetric flow of both water and solute underneath a disk permeameter. We developed finite‐difference numerical scheme such flows. Laboratory experiments were also conducted using box containing repacked sand. A ¼‐sector permeameter was located on the surface in one corner. The disk, first pure water, placed soil 200 s. It then removed, refilled with KBr solution, replaced at 225 Finally after 12.5 min removed samples extracted...

Abstract In recent years, numerous studies have justified the use of microalgae as a sustainable alternative for generation different types fuels, food supplementation, and cosmetics, well bioremediation processes. To improve cost/benefit ratio mass production, many culture systems been built upgraded. Mathematical modeling growth species in has become an efficient practical tool to understand both physical biochemical phenomena play during algae cultivation. addition, can guide design...

Mathematical modeling and simulation of cotton fabric drying in a stenter machine was performed using finite element method. A standard κ-ɛ turbulence model coupled with heat/mass transfer porous media models. novel approach to simulate all injectors enabled new perspective the process calculation local convective coefficients. Three simulations were run: Simulation I reproduced real operational conditions; Simulations II III estimated effects increasing air inlet velocity decreasing...

Abstract In the textile industry, drying is one of most important processes. This process requires large investments and high energy consumption, which generates costs for companies in this sector. work, a modeling behavior air was carried out Stenter, under real operating conditions through development fluid-dynamic simulations. For computational problem, 3D geometry constructed based on measurements taken from an injector Stenter. The standard k-ε turbulence model used turbulent flow...
