In order to investigate the possibility of a long-term paleoseismic history from offshore sedimentary records in Sumatra, we collected 144 deep-sea sediment cores trench and lower slope piggyback basins Sumatra accretionary prism. We used multibeam bathymetry seismic reflection data develop an understanding catchment basins, turbidity current pathways, depositional styles, as well precisely locate our gravity cores, piston Kasten multicores. use detailed physical property data, including...

Textural, mineralogical and geochemical analyses of near‐surface sediments from six different stations offshore SW Iberian Peninsula revealed the presence thin detrital intervals corresponding to very fine‐grained turbidites. Precise dating two most recent sedimentary layers based on 210 Pb 137 Cs geochronology provides ages 1971 ± 3 AD 1908 8 AD. These correspond high‐magnitude historical instrumental earthquakes that occurred in region: 1969 Horseshoe Earthquake (Mw 8.0) 1909 Benavente...

Abstract Changing redox conditions in water columns or sediment–water interfaces of lakes are captured as sedimentary archives, and often influenced by climate. Their study therefore permits the reconstruction past climate change on (sub‐) annual to longer timescales. In Lago Fagnano (54°S Argentina/Chile), a large oligotrophic deep‐oxygenated lake, alternations light grey clay dark greenish black laminae preserved throughout Holocene record. This aims clarify mechanism formation...

Tierra del Fuego in Argentina is a unique location to examine past Holocene wind variability since it intersects the core of Southern Hemisphere Westerly Winds (SHWW). The SHWW are most powerful prevailing winds on Earth. Their variation plays role regulating atmospheric CO 2 levels and rainfall amounts distribution, both today past. We obtained piston (LF06‐PC8) from Bahía Grande, protected sub‐basin at southern margin Lago Fagnano, largest lake Fuego. This article focuses uppermost 185 cm...
