To compare the risks and benefits of adding either intravitreal dexamethasone implant (DEX) or preservative-free triamcinolone acetonide (TA) to bevacizumab monotherapy in refractory cystoid macular edema due retinal vein occlusion. This is a multicenter, comparative, interventional, retrospective study that included 74 patients who were initially treated with later received DEX TA for treatment recalcitrant occlusion. Main outcomes best-corrected visual acuity, central thickness, cost...
Purpose: To evaluate the agreement between reading values of Goldmann applanation tonometer (GAT), Icare Pro rebound (IRT) and noncontact (NCT) in glaucoma patients. Methods: This cross-sectional study comprised 292 eyes patients selected from a outpatient clinic. The intraocular pressure (IOP) was measured sequentially, at 10-min interval each, following order: NCT, IRT GAT. central corneal thickness (CCT) using...
Primary open-angle glaucoma is a multifactorial serious disease characterized by progressive retinal ganglion cell death and loss of visual field. The purposes this study were to investigate shear wave elastography (SWE) use in the evaluation optic nerve (ON) peripapillary structures, compare findings between glaucomatous control eyes.A case-controlled study, including 21 patients with primary age-matched subjects, was carried out. All participants had comprehensive ophthalmological exams...

Purpose
Growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) excess in acromegaly have various effects on many organs. The ophthalmologic of GH IGF-1 not yet been investigated detail. aim the current study is to compare corneal biomechanical properties patients with those healthy subjects.
Methods
45 (F/M=27/18) 42 age-matched gender-matched individuals (F/M=24/18) were enrolled this cross-sectional study. Central thickness (CCT), resistance factor (CRF), hysteresis...
Purpose: The aims of this study were to assess the biomechanical properties corneas with pseudoexfoliative glaucoma (PEXG) and compare them those patients primary open-angle (POAG). Methods: This prospective, comparative case series consisted 73 eyes patients, 35 PEXG (PEXG group) 38 POAG (POAG group). Corneal hysteresis (CH), corneal resistance factor (CRF), corneal-compensated intraocular pressure (IOPCC), Goldmann-correlated (IOPG) determined by using ocular response analyzer (ORA). IOP...
To compare the effects of first and second generation silicone hydrogel (SiH) contact lens wear on tear film osmolarity. The healthy subjects who have never used lenses before were enrolled in study. Tear osmolarity values 16 eyes (group 1) wore SiH compared with those 18 2) after three months follow-up.Before wear, groups 1 2 305.02±49.08 milliosmole (mOsm) 284.66±30.18mOsm, respectively. After found 317.74±60.23mOsm group 298.40±37.77mOsm 2. Although for both periods slightly higher than...
We present a boy, admitted at 4 months, with facial dysmorphism, hypertrichosis, loose skin, bilateral inguinal hernia, severe hypotonia, psychomotor disability, seizures hypsarrhythmia (West syndrome), hepatosplenomegaly, increased serum transaminases, iris coloboma, glaucoma, corneal clouding and dilated lateral ventricles, extra-axial post-cerebellar space. Serum transferrin isoelectrofocusing (IEF) showed type 1 pattern. Whole-exome genotyping previously reported homozygous nonsense...
To compare immediate and delayed vitrectomy for the management of vitreous hemorrhage (VH) due to proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR).Retrospective review 134 eyes receiving non-clearing, PDR-associated VH. Primary outcome was area under vision curve (AUC) in patients (< 30 days) versus (> with endolaser.Forty-six were included, 17 undergoing endolaser 29 endolaser. Time 14.8 days ± 8.26 compared 629.6 894.9 groups, respectively. AUC significantly greater (276.1 0.601 logMAR*time 165.7...
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: To present and evaluate a novel surgical technique to prevent exposure of the Ahmed valve implant tube (New World Medical, Rancho Cucamonga, CA) through conjunctiva in congenital glaucoma called “combined short scleral tunnel with Tenon advancement duplication.” PATIENTS METHODS: Patients failed previous surgeries were divided into two groups. In group 1, 32 eyes 28 patients mean age 8.82 ± 5.39 years underwent classic surgery. 2, 24 8.79 5.55 combined duplication...
To present a case of full-thickness macular hole closure in patient with Behcet uveitis.A 23-year-old-male Disease had clinically inactive uveitis topical steroids, oral azathiopurine and cyclosporine until he developed retinal infiltrate the left eye which evolved into during follow-up.Strict control inflammation subsequent vitrectomy was planned. Meanwhile another attack panuveitis subcutaneous Interferon alfa-2b interferon treatment initiated. After 2 months, complete hole.Strict may...
A 64-year-old Caucasian man referred for decreased vision after selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT). Slit lamp examination revealed diffuse corneal edema. Despite intensive topical treatment including steroids, edema did not resolve; on the contrary, it advanced to bullous keratopathy. Corneal SLT is an exceptionally rare complication and in all of previous reports resolved with medical treatment. To best our knowledge, this first report presenting persistent SLT.
Congenital bilateral upper eyelid eversion is a rare condition and the definite cause not known. It often seen in Black babies or with Down's syndrome. With early diagnosis appropriate treatment, can be managed without surgery. We report case of congenital an otherwise healthy Caucasian neonate, born by normal vaginal delivery. The responded well to conservative including repositioning, lubricants, antibiotic ointment, patching.
Purpose: To report a case of LASIK flap dehiscence caused by blunt trauma 6 years after uneventful refractive surgery. Methods: A 32-year-old man presented 3 hours being struck carton edge in his left cornea, causing the flap. Results: At initial examination, uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) was 20/200 eye. Minimal seen on inferior corneal quadrant. therapeutic bandage soft contact lens placed and topical medical therapy administered. Ten days trauma, UCVA 20/50 best spectacle-corrected...
To compare retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) and macular thickness measurements obtained with the Stratus optical coherence tomography (OCT) OPKO/OTI OCT devices.Included in study were 59 eyes of 30 participants. All for each eye done on same day both devices. Student's paired t-tests used to central RNFL OCT. Pearson correlation was assess relationship between Coefficient variation (COV) calculated intersession repeatability.Using OCT, respectively, measured mean average thicknesses...
In Brief Purpose: To test define characteristic fundus autofluorescence patterns of different exudative age-related macular degeneration subtypes. Methods: Cross-sectional study. Fifty-two patients with choroidal neovascularization because three neovascular subtypes were included in the Macular and peripheral study subjects compared a masked fashion.
