The synthesis and physical properties, in particular electro-optic switching behavior, of 3-chloro-biphenyl-3',4-bis[4-[4-(3,7-dimethyloctyloxy)-phenyliminomethyl]] benzoate are reported. compound exhibits an antiferroelectric tilted smectic liquid crystalline phase (Sm-CP) a broad temperature range. Below 20 degrees C the sample goes over to glassy state no crystallization appears down -50 C. It is observed that below glass transition both achiral chiral structures Sm-CP can be frozen. Each...
Abstract Fluorine‐doped zinc oxide thin films (ZnO:F) were deposited on sodocalcic glass substrates from an aged solution using a chemical spray technique. The effect of substrate temperature ( T S ) the morphological, optical, and nonlinear optical (NLO) properties ZnO:F was studied. These analysed X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, profilometry, transmittance, fluorescence, second (SHG) third harmonic generation (THG) techniques. A polycrystalline structure with preferential...
Abstract A novel polymer matrix containing amino–nitro substituted azobenzene groups was obtained by frontal polymerization. (E)‐2‐(Ethyl(4‐((4‐nitrophenyl)diazenyl)phenyl)amino)ethyl methacrylate (MDR‐1) copolymerized with poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA) using this easy and fast polymerization technique. The effect of the amount incorporated azo‐monomer into studied in detail correlated to front velocity, maximum temperature, initiator concentration, monomer conversion. materials...
Abstract 2‐Phenoxyethyl acrylate (2‐PEA) was polymerized alone and in the presence of an azobenzene comonomer derived from Disperse Red‐1, N ‐ethyl‐ ‐(2‐hydroxyethyl)‐4‐(4‐nitrophenylazo)aniline (MDR‐1), by using frontal polymerization technique. Two novel ionic liquids, recently synthesized us, were used as initiators: tetrabutylphosphonium persulfate (TBPPS) trihexyltetradecylphosphonium (TETDPPS). Even if their concentrations smaller than those found when benzoyl peroxide terbutylperoxy...
Abstract The frontal polymerization (FP) of bisphenol A ethoxylate diacrylate (BPAEDA) was carried with and without the presence two different azobenzene comonomers by means an external heating source. first azomonomer (MDR‐1) is a derivative disperse red‐1, N ‐ethyl‐ ‐(2‐hydroxyethyl)‐4‐(4‐nitrophenylazo)aniline, whereas second (E)‐2‐(4‐((4‐nitrophenyl)diazenyl)phenyl)‐5,8,11‐trioxa‐2‐azatridecan‐13‐yl methacrylate (4PEGMAN) comes from azo‐dye ‐methyl‐...
Chemically sprayed fluorine-indium-doped zinc oxide thin films (ZnO:F:In) were deposited on glass substrates. A mixture of pentanedionate, indium sulfate, and fluoride acid was used in the starting solution. The influence both dopant concentration solution substrate temperature transport, morphological, linear, nonlinear optical (NLO) properties fully characterized with atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning-electron (SEM), UV-VIS, photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopies, second-harmonic...
Dendrons of pyrene derivatives were attached to a porphyrin core. A marked effect in solution for the dendrimers was observed absorption spectra. All compounds obtained characterized by 1H-, 13C-NMR, FTIR, UV-vis, MALDI-TOF or FAB+ mass spectrometry and elemental analysis. The cubic nonlinear optical behavior some synthesized tested via Z-Scan measurements spin-coated film samples.
A novel approach to specify symmetries and main optical axes in anisotropic polymeric films is proposed. This method based on the analysis of absorption via pulsed laser photoacoustic (PLPA)- technique a common polarizer film, while rotating axis at normal incidence. Since PLPA-signals are directly proportional absorption, it shown that symmetric complementary Malus's law can be obtained over full root mean square (RMS)- correlation (CA)-analysis PLPA-signals. Such data processing reveals...
The catalyst-free sonogel route has been implemented to fabricate highly pure SiO2 glasses as host materials for CdTe quantum dot nanocrystals synthesized in aqueous solution. Developed CdTe-based inorganic–inorganic hybrid composites exhibited rigid bulk structures with controllable geometrical shapes and dopant concentrations, allowing the control of optical properties solid-state confinement. Comprehensive linear nonlinear photophysical characterizations were performed according UV–vis...
