In this study, the possibility of enhancing permeability porous Si3N4 ceramics was studied by using pore former additive (potato starch; 0–30 vol.%). The open porosity samples changed between 52 and 66% as mean channel size values ranged from 0.9 to 4 μm. Increasing starch addition provides bimodal distribution channels accompanying abrupt increment in non-Darcian permeability. k2 value rised 8.7 × 10−10 m 30.1 m.
Abstract The present study aimed to examine the effect of pH and time on final morphology calcium borate powders. Primarily, aqueous solutions that mainly consisted borax chloride were prepared with five different values varying between 2 15. Hydrothermal synthesis temperature was determined as 200°C, four times from 30 min 24 h selected. Phase formation powder examined via an X‐ray diffractometer scanning electron microscopy. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy used identify type...
Functionally graded ceramic systems consisted of Al2O3/ZrO2-Al2O3/Nd2Ti2O7 have been produced by gel casting. Gel casting method provided simple and applicable approach for obtaining samples with alternating layers concentric circles. In Al2O3/ZrO2 systems, pure Al2O3 was gathered three different mixtures. For Al2O3/Nd2Ti2O7 system, layer combined 3 mol % Nd2Ti2O7 doped Al2O3. All sintered at sintering temperatures between 1480-1540°C showed strong adhesion without any crack formation. both...
Highly porous SiC ceramics containing borax decahydrate were produced by a starch consolidation method in which corn was used as shaping and pore-forming additive. Four different compositions prepared with SiC:borax ratios content. Mixtures solid ratio of 55 wt.% cast non-porous molds heated at 80°C for shaping. The technique enabled the forms sizes. Simultaneous thermogravimetry differential thermal analysis SiC-borax mixture showed that melting took place below 600°C, result sintering...
Silicon nitride (Si3N4) is one of the promising ceramics for dental restoration due to providing significant benefits during application. This study aimed investigate potential use Si3N4 all-ceramic restorations by characterizing some critical properties as color shade, mechanical resistance, shear-bond strength and radiolucency. For our study, porous ceramic was produced partial sintering process with limited amounts additives low temperature. A commercial ZrO2 prepared according...
Zircon (zirconium silicate; ZrSiO4) is an essential compound of sanitaryware glaze due to contributions the final properties surface. In this study, effect zircon particle size on surface (microstructural development, opacity, roughness, hardness and bacterial activity) were studied. Initially, powder was milled by planetary mill at different times (0–25 min) added industrial recipe. Four suspensions prepared, applied a sanitary ware body sintered in tunnel kiln 1220 °C for 16 h. The milling...
Si3N4 porous beads were produced from direct carbothermal reduction and nitridation of spheres composed carbon+SiO2 mixtures. A simple one–step sol–gel templating technique was used to prepare (molar ratio carbon/SiO2 set as 4) containing with a diameter 2 mm. natural abundant biopolymer, alginate, is sacrificial template produce ceramic beads. Carbothermal process conducted at two different temperatures (1500 1550°C) atmospheres (pure nitrogen 5% hydrogen in nitrogen) observe the effect...
Abstract Si 3 N 4 ceramics show excellent characteristics of mechanical and chemical resistance in combination with good biocompatibility, antibacterial property radiolucency. Therefore, they are intensively studied as structural materials skeletal implant applications. Despite their attractive properties, there limited data the field about vitro studies cellular growth on ceramic materials. In this study, bone cells was investigated porous silicon nitride (Si ) by using electrochemical...
Al 2 O 3 ceramics with graded porosity were produced by using corn starch and PMMA sphere as pore former additives (PFA). Graded was obtained uniaxially pressing the stacks of mixtures without PFA together. Pressed samples heat-treated to remove PFAs at 600 o C sintered 1540 C. Final from measured 12 16%, median size 11 µm, respectively. The elastic moduli pulse-echo method results showed that values varied significantly depending on type. added had lower than a result higher interconnected...
Abstract Flame-retardant behavior of flax fabric coated by calcium borate powders with clove-like and elongated morphologies was investigated thermal analysis cone calorimeter. PDA used to form strong uniform adhesion onto fabric. Thermal showed a 20% decrease in mass loss, while detected exothermic/endothermic peaks as result the degradation PDA. Significant reductions HRR, p-HRR, EHC CO 2 amount were observed for powder. carbonized at low temperatures formed char layer that prevented flame...
Abstract Functionally graded ceramic systems consisted of Al 2 O 3 /(Al –ZrO ) and –Nd Ti 7 have been produced by gel casting. In /ZrO systems, was gathered with three different mixtures varying ZrO contents. For /Nd system, layer combined mol% Nd ‐doped . All samples sintered at 1480 1540°C showed strong adhesion between layers without any crack formation. the both were intact; a distinct separation observed, whereas large reaction zone observed for system as consequence phases. The...
Abstract The recycle rate of waste flat glass is quite low in spite higher SiO 2 content and its pre‐melted characteristic. This study searched a novel approach for the fabrication Si 3 N 4 powder by carbo‐thermal reduction nitridation from glass. For comparison, starting mixtures were prepared silica SLS (soda‐lime‐silica) Carbo‐thermal process was conducted using two temperatures different atmospheres. results showed that equiaxed, micron size β‐Si particle could be synthesized use reduced...
