More than 3,000 persons were studied in a survey on the prevalence of nematode infections Indonesia and Belgium. In Indonesia, ascariasis hookworm infection more prevalent expected (at least 67% 15%, respectively), Belgian children enterobiasis was surprisingly widespread 65%). A single dose (2.5 mg per kilogram) L-tetramisole about 90% effective against 80% infection, but ineffective trichuriasis almost enterobiasis. well-tolerated even at several times recommended kilogram).

SUMMARY Appetite and growth were studied in primary schoolboys (6–10 years) infected with Ascaris lumbricoides (86%) Trichuris trichiura (100%) who received a single dose of pyrantel pamoate (which has little or no effect on ) placebo. Boys examined, allocated at random by descending egg count to (PR, n = 36) placebo (PL, groups, treated, re-examined 3 7 weeks later. The 2 groups did not differ significantly before treatment helminth infections, appetite, growth. Three after treatment, the...

Desiccation survival times of adult mosquitoes were studied for yellow fever mosquito, Aedes aegypti (L.) (6 strains), Asian tiger Ae. albopictus (Skuse) (5 and paullusi Stone & Farmer (1 strain) colonized from South Sulawesi, Indonesia. At both 90 70% RH, males females outlived the other species. The forest species was least resistant to desiccation. Strains urban areas more desiccation than conspecific strains rural villages. When water accessible, females, indicating that death...

Therefore, this research aimed at determining magnitude hypothyroidism among women having maternity services in a general hospital Somalia.A cross-sectional study was conducted on who delivered between December 2022 May 2023. AbstractThis study examined the relationship between intestinal helminthiases and growth in urban slum schoolchildren. Children (n = 330) who received single doses of either pyrantel, albendazole, or placebo at baseline again 6 months were followed fully 0, 3, 6, 12 for helminth infections anthropometry. Results treatments indicated that all groups reduced their prevalence intensity toward period study. Reductions both treatment observed large 3 months, whereas reached mostly initial level...

The present study was undertaken in village Karondang South-Sulawesi, Indonesia, to investigate the influences of genetic, household and environmental factors on Brugia malayi infection. Infection status determined by measuring both microfilariae night blood anti-filarial IgG4, as a marker for detection active filarial A total 171 residents participated study; familial relationships between subjects were registered construct pedigrees distances households measured. data analysed using test...

Four hundred and fifty subjects were included in a study of the prevalence soil-transmitted nematodes Ujung Pandang, South-Sulawesi, Indonesia. Trichuriasis was most prevalent infection (93.3%), followed by ascariasis (80.2%) hookworm (19.5%). Among 156 who given 500 mg mebendazole single dose, treatment resulted cure rates 93.4%, 77.6%, 91.1%, average egg-count reduction 99.0%, 92.8%, 98.3%, for ascariasis, trichuriasis, infections, respectively. Mebendazole appeared to be equally effective...

To dissociate the influence of host age from length exposure on acquisition filarial infection, we examined development microfilaraemia and anti-filarial IgG4 in all ages a naive population that became suddenly exposed to Brugia malayi as result transmigration. Responses 247 transmigrants, who had settled for periods several months up 6 years their new homesteads, were compared with those 133 life-long residents. We set out to study how anti-filarial IgG4 and IgE, which have been studied extensively in adult populations, are influenced by gender the degree of filarial endemicity during childhood. Development specific IgE was examined 502 children aged 3 months 12 years, who were resident villages South-Sulawesi with microfilaria prevalences 6, 23 42%. A recent case‐control study in Indonesia suggested that the course of Brugian filariasis and particular resistance to development elephantiasis was associated with certain HLA class II alleles. In order see whether these data could be confirmed we conducted a similar another Indonesian population from South Sulawesi. We not confirm our earlier results therefore concluded HLA‐DR ‐DQ alleles are at least strongly progression filariasis. The complete presented also for anthropological reference...

In mothers who suffer from helminth infections or allergic diseases, prenatal sensitization with antigens/allergens is suspected to bias the immune system of offspring towards a Th2-type response. To investigate this at antibody level, we collected 113 blood samples on filter paper paediatric population aged 3 months 10 years and their mothers, resided in an area endemic for brugian filariasis Indonesia. The results showed that levels children were strongly correlated maternal levels....
