This study evaluated the effect of regulated deficit irrigation (RDI) strategies applied to olive trees (Arbequina cv) during fruit ripening and harvest periods on oil yield composition. Fatty acid composition, pigments, colour, polyphenol content stability oils were evaluated. The results indicate that induces ripening; at harvest, increased when water supply was decreased, probably as a consequence lower in olive. Acidic composition not affected by treatments. Irrigation pigment colour...

Antioxidant capacity, quality, and anthocyanin nutrient contents of 106 peach cultivars from different breeding programs were evaluated at the Estació Experimental de Lleida, IRTA (Catalonia, Spain), during two growing seasons (2010 2011). High variability was found among within each quality trait, where scored as best worst. For example, a 5-fold range (2.17-12.07 g malic acid L⁻¹), 6-fold (144.20-711.73 μg Trolox g⁻¹ FW), 11-fold (0.70-11.43 mg cyanidin-3-glucoside kg⁻¹ FW) observed in...

Abstract This study evaluated the effects of different regulated deficit irrigation (RDI) strategies applied to olive ( Arbequina cultivar) trees on qualitative and quantitative parameters resulting oil during maximum evaporative demand period for three consecutive crop seasons. Quality indices, fatty acid composition, pigments, colour, α‐tocopherol phenolic contents, bitter index, oxidative stability organoleptic properties were determined. Irrigation did not affect those used as criteria...

Productive and vegetative tree responses were analyzed during 3 consecutive years in peach [ Prunus persica (L.) Batsch cv. Sudanell] plots subjected to three regulated deficit irrigation (RDI) strategies plus a control treatment. A postharvest RDI treatment (RDI-P) was irrigated at 0.35 of after harvest. Stage II (RDI-SII) 0.5 the lag phase fruit growth curve. The third (RDI-SII-P) applied control. treatment, like RDI-P RDI-SII-P when not receiving RDI, 100% water budget scheduling 1994...

Abstract A multilateral approach that includes both biotic and climatic data was developed to detect the main variables affect ecology population dynamics of woolly apple aphid Eriosoma lanigerum (Hausmann). Crawlers migrated up down trunk mainly from spring autumn horizontal migration through canopy observed May August. Winter temperatures did not kill colonies, root colonies are source reinfestations in Mediterranean areas. Thus, control measures should simultaneously address roots canopy....

The effects of covering the orchard floor with Extenday™ or Solarmate™ reflective films on fruit color, quality, canopy light distribution, temperature, and profitability ‘Mondial Gala’ apples ( Malus × domestica ) were evaluated over a 3-year period (2000–02) at Lleida (northeastern Spain). Reflective film was laid down 5 weeks before commercial harvest. Photosynthetically active radiation in lowest part tree (1 m aboveground level) increased by 34% 56%, for films, respectively, compared...

(1) Habitat management can enhance beneficial arthropod populations and provide ecosystem services such as biological control. However, the implementation of ecological infrastructures inside orchards has a number practical limitations. Therefore, planting/growing insectary plants in margins should be considered an alternative approach. (2) Here, we assessed efficacy flower margin composed by four plant species (Achillea millefolium, Lobularia maritima, Moricandia arvensis Sinapis alba),...
