The construction industry in Central Asia has shown rapid growth the last decade due to an economic boom, leading high & demolition waste (C&DW) generation accompanied by management operations falling behind worldwide best practices. present study first employs a comprehensive environmental screening approach, PESTEL analysis, identify and assess critical external internal factors that can affect C&DW Asian company (headquarters Kazakhstan, country with largest economy region)....
The present study reveals for the first time dry sliding wear behavior of a powder metallurgical pure titanium alloy (Cp-Ti) modified by shot peening. Cp-Ti samples were manufactured via metallurgy, and then their surface subsurface features using custom-made, fully automated shot-peening system. texture isotropy rate highest orientation angle shot-peened 71.5% 36°, respectively. Abbott curves surfaces revealed that most common areal roughness value was 5.177 μm, with frequency 8.1%....
Toys and children's jewelry may contain metals to which children can be orally exposed. The objectives of this research were (1) determine total concentrations (TC's) As, Ba, Cd, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb, Sb, Se in toys (n = 72) bought on the North American market compare TC's regulatory limits, (2) estimate oral metal bioavailability selected items 4) via bioaccessibility testing. For metallic 24) 20 had exceeding migratable concentration limits (European Union). Seven seventeen did not comply...
One of the consequences COVID-19 pandemic is momentum it has created for global changes affecting various aspects daily lives. Among these, green building certification systems (GBCSs) should not be left behind as significant potential modifications may required to ensure their versatility residential buildings due new reality. The present study aims evaluate readiness chosen GBCSs a proper assessment existing housing sustainability in post-pandemic world. Based on literature review...
Abstract Titanium alloys possess remarkable properties, such as high strength, biocompatibility, and resistance to corrosion. Nonetheless, both their surface subsurface properties require improvements particularly for applications where contact is unavoidable. The present study utilises an emerging mechanical treatment technique (water jet shot peening) modifying the characteristics of cold-rolled Ti6Al4V sheets. Water peening was applied on samples following L18 full factorial experimental...
Children can be exposed to toxic elements in toys and jewelry following ingestion. As, Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb, Sb bioavailability was assessed (n = 24) via the vitro gastrointestinal protocol (IVG), physiologically based extraction test (PBET), European Toy Safety Standard (EN 71-3), health risks were characterized. Pb mobilized from 19 metallic (MJ) one crayon set. Bioaccessible or exceeded EU migratable concentration limits four six MJ, depending on protocol. Using two-phase (gastric + intestinal)...
Ti6Al4V alloy was shot peened by using stainless-steel shots with different sizes (0.09–0.14 mm (S10) and 0.7–1.0 (S60)) for two durations (5 15 min) a custom-designed peening system. The size the main parameter modifying roughness (0.74 µm S10 vs. 2.27 S60), whereas higher time slightly increased roughness. Hardness improved up to approximately 35% large shots, while insignificant in hardness improvement. However, longer duration led an unwanted formation of micro-cracks delamination on...
