Abstract We examined three immunoassay techniques for measuring apolipoprotein B in serum and major lipoprotein density fractions from normolipidemic hyperlipoproteinemic persons, comparing values by electroimmunoassay, radioimmunoassay, radial immunodiffusion assay with those determined gravimetrically. Electroimmunoassay is faster simpler than equally precise (within- between-assay coefficients of variation both were 5 7%, respectively). All the immunoassays gave results that agreed...
The previously established effects of gonadal steroids on individual plasma phospholipids have been studied further in isolated lipoprotein fractions. For this purpose an estrogenic steroid (ethinylestradiol) alone and combination with a gestagen androgenic effect (norethisterone) was given for 3-week periods to 6 oophorectomized women. During ethinylestradiol administration the increase due mainly phospholipid fraction highdensity- very-high-density-lipoproteins (HDL-VHDL), (D > 1.063 g/ml)...
682 Background: Participation in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) clinical trials remains dismal among patients from minoritized groups. This study aimed to investigate if trial design, including eligibility criteria, affects representation of populations. Methods: United States Phase I-IV PDAC between 2000-2020 were extracted the ClinicalTrials.gov database. The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database was used determine cancer incidence linked with years...
(1975). Aspects of the Pathogenesis Cholestasis Pregnancy with Reference to Serum Lipid Abnormalities. Scandinavian Journal Gastroenterology: Vol. 10, No. 1, pp. 1-4.
Thirty-five patients operated on for uncomplicated gallstone disease were studied. Eight with prebeta hyperlipoproteinemia and 11 normolipo-proteinemic had sucrose substituted 800 Kcal of their daily caloric intake two weeks prior to the operation. Sixteen served as non-sucrose-fed controls. In normolipoproteinemic feeding produced an elevation plasma triglycerides, a transient decrease in cholesterol, increase basal insulin concomitant increased adipose tissue lipoprotein lipase activity....
The effects in vivo of a biguanide (Metformin) on intestinal enzyme activities and vitamin B12 folic acid absorption can be summarized as follows. 1. the brush border mucosal cell upper intestine were influenced. 2. disaccharidase reduced, although not to such an extent expected impair disaccharide absorption. 3. Vitamin was significantly measured by Schilling test. 4. Serum levels possibly due decreased dietary acid.
Purified high-density lipoprotein (HDL), obtained by preparative ultracentri-fugation at density 1.063–1.19 g/ml in the cold, were subfractionated hydroxyl apatite column chromatography. Two of subtractions (subtractions II and III) turned turbid after incubation 37d` C for 12 h. The material was recovered supernatant D 1.006 centrifugation 30,000 g 2 fraction causing turbidity composed 94% cholesterol ester 2% apolipoprotein (by weight). On polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis moiety appeared...
Abstract. The serum lipid values at different stages of pregnancy in twenty‐six pregnant diabetic women attending a special antenatal clinic the Department Obstetrics and Gynecology, were compared with corresponding four control series composed non‐diabetic women. Control studied weeks 10, 22, 34 after delivery, respectively. Serum triglycerides higher week 10 ( p >0.01), >0.05) delivery >0.05). Furthermore, women, infant birth weights correlated r =0.52, =0.05) maternal...
Abstract. The rate of incorporation leucine into hepatic proteins in liver slices from 42 patients was studied. Zero order kinetics for the relation to incubation time and amount incubated were obtained, provided that medium contained a complete amino acid mixture with concentration 4 times normal human serum. – Inulin space water content preparation same magnitude as reported rat liver. presence fructose (5.5 mM) caused an inhibition pro teins. Insulin medium, however, stimulated tho rate....
Abstract. Forty‐one pregnant women with pruritus, in whom cholestasis was verified by the presence their serum of an abnormal lipoprotein, lipoprotein‐X (LP‐X), were divided into two clinical groups, pruritus gravidarum (PG) ( n =20) and hepatosis pregnancy (HP) =21) relation to bilirubin (below above 1.2 mg/100 ml, respectively) and/or SGOT, SGPT 50 units/1, respectively). In HP, but not PG, lipids, i.e. cholesterol, phospholipids, triglycerides, pre‐β‐lipoproteins (very‐low‐density...
An isolation procedure is described in which, the presence of a SH-blocking agent, DTNB, LP-B, and albumin-free HDL2 HDL3 were isolated. Subfractionation on hydroxylapatite column chromatography respectively, gave three parent fractions characteristic polypeptide composition. I II contained thin immunoprecipitin line peptide, LP-D. Incubation vitro fraction caused degradation fraction, simultaneously with appearance newly formed cholesterol ester consumption lecithin. Re-chromatography...
Eleven oophorectomized women (mean age 34.5 +/- 5.9) received two treatment cycles, one of the 17-C-alkylated ethinyl estradiol 20 microgram per day, and second non-alkylated estrogen, valerate 2 mg day for six weeks in separate periods preceded by without hormonal replacement therapy. Blood samples were drawn before after on each estrogen. The assayed individual phospholipids i.e. cephalin, lecithin, lysolecithin sphingomyelin separation these lipids thin layer chromatography. relative...
Elevated serum lipids in normal pregnancy have been confirmed by the present study. In relative fatty acid composition of lecithin was characteristically high palmitic (15:0). From knowledge lipid metabolism there is no obvious explanation for this finding. Furthermore, mirrored a possible dietary influence with decrease essential acid, linoleic (18:2) and arachidonic (20:4) acids sum series (n-6). This expression deficiency might be due to changes habits during pregnancy, e.g. an increase...
Observations from studies during pregnancy, the menstrual cycle, and estrogen-androgen administration have shown that gonadal steroids influence in a characteristic way plasma lipids particularly high-density lipoprotein (HDL) lipids. The HDL lipid composition was followed on 5 different occasions cycle women. concentrations of free cholesterol lysolecithin varied inversely throughout cycle. A reduction linoleic acid lecithin occurred estrogen-dominated follicular phase. These changes to...

Abstract. Two patients who had ingested digoxin in great doses with suicidal intent are presented. They reached plasma levels of 8.1 and 14.4 ng/ml respectively. The urinary excretion, for one them the successive loading tissue digoxin, were followed. Discrepancies found due to being previously undigitalized, other having many years been on digitalis treatment. During first days intoxication atrial arrhythmias A‐V block predominated. No ventricular seen. At a level less than 2...
We present a patient with post-pneumonectomy empyema refractory to surgical debridement and systemic antibiotics. The initially presented bronchopleural fistula pneumothorax secondary tuberculosis (TB) destroyed lung, which required pneumonectomy Eloesser flap. Ongoing pleural infection delayed the closure of flap, thoracoscopic inspection his chest cavity revealed green, mucous biofilm-like structure lining postpneumonectomy cavity. Cultures identified pan-susceptible
Synthesis of bile salts is regulated through negative feedback inhibition by returning to the liver. Individual have not been distinguished with regard inhibitory potential. We assessed salt synthesis either cholate or its taurine conjugate in fistula rats. After allowing maximize, baseline was determined measuring output four consecutive 6-hr periods. Next, sodium (+[(14)C]cholate) taurocholate (+[(14)C]taurocholate) infused into jugular vein for 36 hr and collected aliquots. Hepatic flux...
