Abstract We examined three immunoassay techniques for measuring apolipoprotein B in serum and major lipoprotein density fractions from normolipidemic hyperlipoproteinemic persons, comparing values by electroimmunoassay, radioimmunoassay, radial immunodiffusion assay with those determined gravimetrically. Electroimmunoassay is faster simpler than equally precise (within- between-assay coefficients of variation both were 5 7%, respectively). All the immunoassays gave results that agreed...

The previously established effects of gonadal steroids on individual plasma phospholipids have been studied further in isolated lipoprotein fractions. For this purpose an estrogenic steroid (ethinylestradiol) alone and combination with a gestagen androgenic effect (norethisterone) was given for 3-week periods to 6 oophorectomized women. During ethinylestradiol administration the increase due mainly phospholipid fraction highdensity- very-high-density-lipoproteins (HDL-VHDL), (D > 1.063 g/ml)...

682 Background: Participation in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) clinical trials remains dismal among patients from minoritized groups. This study aimed to investigate if trial design, including eligibility criteria, affects representation of populations. Methods: United States Phase I-IV PDAC between 2000-2020 were extracted the ClinicalTrials.gov database. The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database was used determine cancer incidence linked with years...

Thirty-five patients operated on for uncomplicated gallstone disease were studied. Eight with prebeta hyperlipoproteinemia and 11 normolipo-proteinemic had sucrose substituted 800 Kcal of their daily caloric intake two weeks prior to the operation. Sixteen served as non-sucrose-fed controls. In normolipoproteinemic feeding produced an elevation plasma triglycerides, a transient decrease in cholesterol, increase basal insulin concomitant increased adipose tissue lipoprotein lipase activity....

The effects in vivo of a biguanide (Metformin) on intestinal enzyme activities and vitamin B12 folic acid absorption can be summarized as follows. 1. the brush border mucosal cell upper intestine were influenced. 2. disaccharidase reduced, although not to such an extent expected impair disaccharide absorption. 3. Vitamin was significantly measured by Schilling test. 4. Serum levels possibly due decreased dietary acid.

Abstract. The serum lipid values at different stages of pregnancy in twenty‐six pregnant diabetic women attending a special antenatal clinic the Department Obstetrics and Gynecology, were compared with corresponding four control series composed non‐diabetic women. Control studied weeks 10, 22, 34 after delivery, respectively. Serum triglycerides higher week 10 ( p >0.01), >0.05) delivery >0.05). Abstract. Forty‐one pregnant women with pruritus, in whom cholestasis was verified by the presence their serum of an abnormal lipoprotein, lipoprotein‐X (LP‐X), were divided into two clinical groups, pruritus gravidarum (PG) ( n =20) and hepatosis pregnancy (HP) =21) relation to bilirubin (below above 1.2 mg/100 ml, respectively) and/or SGOT, SGPT 50 units/1, respectively). Elevated serum lipids in normal pregnancy have been confirmed by the present study. In relative fatty acid composition of lecithin was characteristically high palmitic (15:0). From knowledge lipid metabolism there is no obvious explanation for this finding. Furthermore, mirrored a possible dietary influence with decrease essential acid, linoleic (18:2) and arachidonic (20:4) acids sum series (n-6). This expression deficiency might be due to changes habits during pregnancy, e.g. an increase...
