Single-phase multicomponent perovskite-type cobalt oxide containing five cations in equiatomic amounts on the A-site, namely, (Gd0.2Nd0.2La0.2Sm0.2Y0.2)CoO3, has been synthesized via modified coprecipitation hydrothermal method. Using an original approach for heat treatment, which comprises quenching utilizing liquid nitrogen as a cooling medium, single-phase ceramic with high configuration entropy, crystallizing orthorhombic distorted structure was obtained. It reveals anomalous temperature...
We present a systematic theoretical study of bismuth selenide electronic structure in the presence spin-orbit interaction. It is confirmed that inversion Bi pz and Se states bulk band induced by coupling. The energy gap closed associated mainly with atoms from first quintuple layer. elucidate influence substitution fifth atomic layer on local density top Finally, we describe how it develops into additional p surface structure, which produce triangular protrusion observed Scanning Tunnelling...
We present STM/STS, ARPES and magnetotransport studies of the surface topography electronic structure pristine Bi2Se3 in comparison to Bi1.96Mg0.04Se3 Bi1.98Fe0.02Se3. The images reveal a large number complex, triangle-shaped defects at surface. local both defected non-defected regions is examined by STS. defect-related states shift together with Dirac point observed undefected area, suggesting that influenced doping same way as Additional information about samples provided ARPES, which...
Abstract Both preserved gapless states and gapping of Dirac due to broken time reversal symmetry in bismuth chalcogenide topological insulators with surface bulk magnetic impurities have been observed reported the literature. In order shed more light on mechanism such effects we performed comprehensive element selective study impact Fe impurity position Bi 2 Se 3 lattice its magnetism. The iron atoms were imbedded structure (volume dopants) or deposited (adatoms) they revealed striking...
The origin of nematicity and its relation to superconductivity in iron pnictide high-temperature superconductors remains unclear. One possible sources is the uneven occupation Fe ${d}_{xz}$ ${d}_{yz}$ orbitals. Here, by using x-ray linear dichroism technique, we show that such an imbalance present $\mathrm{Eu}{({\mathrm{Fe}}_{1\ensuremath{-}x}{\mathrm{Co}}_{x})}_{2}{\mathrm{As}}_{2}$ single crystals deep tetragonal phase also superconducting state, where find orbital has a higher as...
We have utilized scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM/STS) as well x-ray linear dichroism (XLD) along with DFT calculations to determine the structural electronic changes of gold-covered nonstoichiometric Bi2Te3 single crystal surface. XLD spectra supported by a numerical simulation several configurations show that at low coverage (< 1.0 ML) gold forms insoluble islands, while for higher (> mixing Au/Bi2Te3 interface may occur. For local characterization around stand-alone Au...
