Germination bioassay was carried out to test the biological activity of Achillea santolina L. (ASAE), Artemisia monosperma Del. (AMAE), Pituranthus tortuosus (PTAE) and Thymus capitatus (TCAE) aqueous extracts (collected from Taif region, KSA) on germination percentage (GP), plumule (PL) radicle (RL) lengths (mm) besides seedling dry weight (SDW) (mg/seedlings) Medicago polymorpha The inhibitory effect P. insignificant compared other three donor species which attained strongest allelopathic...
The inhibitory effects of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) residues on seed germination, nutrient uptake and growth broad beans (Vicia faba grown in two soil types (clay sandy soil) were investigated. An 8% aqueous extract M. strongly inhibited (41.2%) the germination index plumule radicle lengths (by 8.6 4.1 cm, respectively) as compared with controls. phytotoxicity increased from 9.9% to 59% when concentration was 1% 8%.
Abstract Withania somnifera is a wild plant that shows great activity and safety against several human diseases. The current research explored the plant's chemical composition allelopathic effects on Rumex dentatus (recipient plant). Moreover, anticancer also tested four types of cancer cell lines. Chemical analysis W. showed high percentage saponins tannins, while glycosides, alkaloids, flavonoids occurred in second order. Results experiments revealed significant inhibition R. plumule...
Epimedium brevicornum Maxim (EbM) is a well-known Chinese herb that has been widely used for the treatment of several diseases. The main purpose this study to examine role extract in certain andrological parameters rats as natural modulator adverse viewpoints associated with chronic administration tramadol (TAM). Fifty were categorized into five groups. Untreated known Group I, whereas Groups II and III administered 2.43 g/kg/day E. 50 mg/kg/day TAM 130 consecutive days, respectively. Both...
Abstract Background Nanotechnology has demonstrated its vital significance in all aspects of daily life. Our research was conducted to estimate the potential primed seed with chitosan nanoparticles growth and yield by inducing plant secondary metabolism Pancratium maritimum L. one important medicinal plants. Petri dish pot experiments were carried out. Seeds soaked Nano solution (0.1, 0.5, 1 mg/ ml) for 4, 8, 12 h. Germination parameters (germination percentage, germination velocity, speed...
Summary The present work was conducted to elucidate the effect of soil type, salinity stress and allelochemicals from alfalfa on germination efficiency, seedling growth photosynthetic pigments Medicago sativa L. highest rate (69.9%) recorded for seeds cultivated in sandy followed by that clay (42%) then loamy (19%). maximum attained at 50 mM NaCl concentration level, after values were decreased as levels increased. lengths (cm) plumule radicle their rates (cm/day) obtained control level...
The effect of cold and hot aqueous leaf extracts Lantana camara L. on the germination seedling growth Phalaris minor Retz. Sorghum bicolor (Moench) was evaluated. Bioassays indicated that inhibitory allelopathic plant percentage (GP), inhibition (IP) seed index (SGI) two recipient weed species proportional to concentration extract. High concentrations had stronger than low showed no stimulatory both species. Both plumule (PL) radicle (RL) lengths were affected negatively due addition this...
Abstract Allelopathic effects of essential oils and aqueous extracts from Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) Thymus vulgaris (thyme) have been investigated as a source new natural herbicidal compounds to suppress two weeds: Chenopodium album Echinochloa crus-galli associated with important economic crops, Triticum aestivum (wheat) Oryza sativa (rice), respectively. A petri-dish experiment was performed, 10, 20, 50, 100% solutions, doses 0, 2, 4, 8, 16 µL oil per petri dish were applied. The...
Abstract The effect of Fagonia arabica as corrosion inhibitor for Cu in nitric acid solution was studied utilizing mass loss technique, potentiodynamic polarization measurement, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy method, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM); the inhibition efficiency found to increase with concentration inhibitor; inhibitive this explained based on adsorption metal surface, follows Flory‐Huggins isotherm. rate calculated; results revealed that F. has good Cu. surface...
Abstract Olea europaea L. (olive, Oleaceae) constitutes a source of many bioactive compounds, which have recognized benefits for both human health and technological purposes. The present article was carried out to evaluate the biological activity oleuropein (an ester 2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl) ethanol (hydroxytyrosol) has oleosidic skeleton that is common secoiridoid glucosides Oleaceae). It occurred in leaf extracts four olive cultivars (Chemlali, Manzanilla, Picaul Toffahi) as some anticancer...
Aqueous extract (MSAE) and crude powder (MSCP) of Medicago sativa demonstrated inhibitory effects on seed germination, growth the nutrient uptake Lycopersicon esculentum. The results showed that extracts brought about considerable inhibition in germination tomato seeds plumule radicle length. allelopathic effect decreased percentage (GP) aggravating phytotoxicity (PT) or with increase concentration. also reduced phytomass leaves, stems roots seedling. N, P K was highly affected varied...
Allelopathy is considered as a physiological phenomenon with ecological implications that have stimulatory or inhibitory effects on organisms. The aim of the present study was focused effect Ulva lactuca aqueous extract growth and some metabolic aspects well gene expression both Dunaliella salina Chlorella salina. Linoleic acid ethyl ester; Propanoic acid, 3-(methylthio); Ethanol, 2-(9-octadecenyloxy)-, (Z); Oleic Acid; 9-Octadecynoic methyl ester were active phytochemical compounds detected...
Launaea is a polymorphic genus with inter- and intraspecific inconsistencies. The study aimed to revise the classification identification of species in Egypt. also assess variation among taxa using macro- micromorphological characters. Numerical analysis was carried out on 156 specimens, which were collected from 63 sites results revealed that L. arabica, capitata, intybacea spinosa significantly (p-value < 2.2 × 10−16 ***) discriminated other at high dissimilarity level. acanthodes...
Pollen grains of 11 taxa Teucrium from Libya were examined using lightmicroscopy (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) in order to provide better insight on the evaluation palynological attributes for species characterization with special emphasis five Libyan endemic. Two main pollen shapes documented; subprolate prolate or perprolate T. fruticans. The exine sculpture inspected at surface, operculum pole mostly verrucate, perforate scabrate. fruticans attained phenomenon dimorphism two...
