Abstract This paper describes the comparison of anova and Kruskal-Wallis test by means power when violating assumption about normally distributed populations. The permutation method is used as a simulation to determine test. It appears that in case asymmetric populations non-parametric performs better than parametric equivalent method.
The balance of normal and radial (lateral) diffusion oxygen in phospholipid membranes is critical for biological function. Based on the Smoluchowski equation inhomogeneous solubility-diffusion model, Bayesian analysis (BA) can be applied to molecular dynamics trajectories extract free energy profiles. This paper derives a theoretical formalism convert these profiles into characteristic times lengths associated with entering, escaping, or completely crossing membrane. computes mean first...
Abstract Objectives The main objective of this study is to examine the relationship between indicators nonstandard work arrangements, including precarious contract, long working hours, multiple jobs, shift work, and work-related accident absence, using a representative Belgian sample considering several sociodemographic characteristics. Methods This was based on data fifth European Working Conditions Survey (EWCS). For analysis, restricted 3343 respondents from Belgium who were all employed...
(1) Background: Irregular and non-standard work arrangements have become a serious determinant to the health safety of workers. The aim this study is investigate relationship between shift occupational accident absence. A representative Belgian sample considering several sociodemographic characteristics used. (2) Methods: This based on data sixth European Working Condition Survey (EWCS). restricted 2169 respondents from Belgium. By using multivariate logistic regression modeling techniques...
Abstract There is an abundance of nonlinear fatigue damage accumulation models but a lack verification and comparison to experimental datasets. First, extensive two‐level block loading dataset reprocessed according current standard practice. Next, four the Palmgren–Miner linear rule are critically compared using range statistical metrics. For considered dataset, consistently performs worst curve approach found perform significantly better than other models. This study shows that practice...
Although a wide range of direction arrival (DOA) estimation algorithms has been described for diverse array configurations, no specific stochastic analysis framework established to assess the probability density function error on DOA estimates due random errors in geometry. Therefore, we propose collocation method that relies generalized polynomial chaos expansion connect statistical distribution position resulting estimates. We apply this technique conventional root-MUSIC and...
During the implementation of Internet Things (IoT), performance communication and sensing antennas that are embedded in smart surfaces or devices can be affected by objects their reactive near field due to detuning antenna mismatch. Matching networks have been proposed re-establish impedance matching when become detuned environmental factors. In this work, change reflection coefficient at antenna, presence objects, is first characterized as a function frequency object distance applying...
Abstract Students wanting to succeed in higher education are required adopt an adequate learning approach. By analyzing individual characteristics, teachers can give personal advice help students identify their success factors. An expert system based on fuzzy logic provide economically viable solutions these The content of this article be used its applied form advise students, but it also interesting mathematical subject. Some examples other situations everyday life given where applied.
Background: The fast growth of non-standard employment in developed countries highlights the importance studying influence contract type on worker’s safety and health. Objective: main purpose our study is to investigate whether workers are more injured than standard or not. Additionally, other risk factors for occupational accidents investigated. Methods: Data from Belgian surveys work ability 2009 2011 used. During their annual health examination, were asked fill a self-administered...
This paper reports the characterization of 2.45-GHz-ISM-band radio wave propagation channel. Specifically, measurements were performed in an underground parking garage, with aim optimizing breadcrumb systems for a Rapid Intervention Team application. The effects high penetration loss and large reflections by concrete reinforced building structure on path large-scale fading studied. Based analysis wireless channel, critical points reliable communication between members identified. In...
We establish a statistical framework for investigating the influence of correlated random displacements antenna elements in uniform circular array (UCA) on distribution direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimates. More specifically, we apply stochastic collocation method modeling sparse UCA root-MUSIC-DOA estimates as polynomial expansions displacements. Compared to Monte-Carlo simulations, this approach yields speedup about 40 case displacement two elements.
Mathematical models can describe biochemical processes. Accurately measured data are fundamental for the estimation of model parameters. This research uses Monod describing bacterial kinetic degradation. The Levenberg-Marquardt method was applied successfully in order to fit parameters expressing substrate concentration as a function time. Hereby steepest ascent and iterative Gauss-Newton with its quadratic convergence rate were used find optimized parameter values model. These results...
AbstractAbstractFuzziness describes event ambiguity by means of membership functions. Probability the uncertainty an event's occurrence. The primary objective this paper is to interconnect these two disciplines suggesting several function in case scale parameter a Rayleigh distribution. They are based on confidence intervals and pivotal quantities which have normal or χ2 – We succeeded designing fuzzy numbers with sharpness related underlying sample size. found that small size has...
Abstract When one looks around in everyday life, sees mathematics everywhere: i.e., when making the right decisions whether to rent or buy a bicycle depending on circumstances. Mathematics can determine (in case of renting bicycle) maximum rental cost ensure that you will be able pay every month. The period need also influence are prepared pay. It is possible evaluate better than buying, interest rate bank offering for investing your saved money do not spend at once because bicycle.
A variable-step variable-order algorithm for stiff ODEs based on previously derived stabilized extended one-step methods is established. The developed code tested certain initial-value problems systems of contained in the test set proposed by CWI
Economical, technical and strategic reasons make unreplicated experimental designs necessary popular in industrial management settings. This paper investigates the legitimate use of well known methods that appoint effects as significant when they are larger than a defined threshold. We found established estimation methods, such Lenth’s method Dong’s method, too tolerant threshold should be used before an effect can determined influencing. comparing analysis was done by using degree freedom...
This article presents the mathematical approach of optimal strategy to win ‘Release prisoners’ game and integration this analysis in a math class. Outline lesson plans at three different levels are given, where simulations suggested as well theoretical findings about probability distribution function its mean value.
