Remotely sensed ocean color data and numerical modeling have been used to study the phenology of both spring fall phytoplankton blooms (FPBs) in Nova Scotian Shelf (NSS)–Gulf Maine (GoM) region. The reveal a general pattern westward progression bloom (SPB), an eastward FPB NSS–GoM spatial mean chlorophyll concentration is similar that fall, with lower NSS higher GoM. Interannually, there weak but significant tendency for years earlier (delayed) SPBs be followed by delayed (earlier) FPBs,...
Monthly output from a high-resolution numerical ocean model simulation of the North Atlantic Ocean for 1990–2011 period is analyzed to investigate properties and relationships between various current streams in Canadian shelf waters at seasonal annual time scales. Particular focus placed on sections Zone Monitoring Program, which are subdivided into nearshore shelf-break components. At scales, results indicate that all series exhibit cycles with minima during mid-year, but do not. The...
Abstract Recent droughts have severely threatened water security in many regions worldwide. Reservoirs, designed to combat and secure supply partially, are reported failing fill up the total capacity due severe droughts. How bad is climate affecting reservoir filling on a global scale? This issue has not been studied. We present big picture of reservoirs crisis using satellite altimetry. Thanks unique characteristics CryoSat‐2, 525 worldwide were investigated during 2010–2022. Results show...
