Climate change stressors will place different selective pressures on both parasites and their hosts, forcing individuals to modify life‐history strategies altering the distribution prevalence of disease. Few studies have investigated whether are able respond host stress by varying reproductive schedules. Additionally, multiple environmental can limit ability a adaptively parasite infection. This study compared parameters in unstressed drought‐stressed environments using human parasite,...

Schistosome parasites cause a chronic inflammatory disease in humans, and recent studies have emphasized the importance of control programs for understanding aquatic phases schistosomiasis transmission. The host-seeking behavior larval schistosomes (miracidia) their snail intermediate hosts plays critical role parasite Using field-derived strains Kenyan snails parasites, we tested two main hypotheses: (1) Parasites prefer most compatible host, (2) avoid that are already infected. We...

The professional identity of scientists has historically been cultivated to value research over teaching, which can undermine initiatives that aim reform science education. Course-Based Research Experiences (CRE) and the inclusive Education Communities (iREC) are two successful impactful efforts integrate teaching. this study is explicate instructors who implement a CRE within an established iREC explore how contributes success these programs. 97 from Science Alliance (SEA) participated in...

The manipulation of host organisms by their parasites has captured the attention ecologists, parasitologists, and public. However, our knowledge parasite behavior independent a is limited despite far-reaching implications behavior. Parasite behaviors can help explain trematode community structure, aggregation within populations, potentially be harnessed in biocontrol measures. In this study, we used simple choice chamber design to examine whether detect infection status potential avoid hosts...

Parasite genetic variation has been used to delineate and enumerate species, describe host-parasite associations, observe the distribution of lineages among hosts throughout environment.Mechanisms or pathways inferred by these studies have often carried forward in a predictive manner inform assumptions about organism's biology, its life history, interactions. For medically relevant parasites, observations undoubtedly proven useful for fuller epidemiological understanding parasite transmission...
