Increased cost associated with the used of high quality materials have led to need for local soils be in civil engineering works. In this paper, geo-chemical approaches coupled conventional geotechnical techniques has been investigate vertical and lateral peculiar index properties (EIP) micaschist derived from Mfou, Central-Cameroon their uses road construction. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis conducted on indicated absence swelling clays. main mineral phases were quartz, kaolinite,...
Abstract Granular lateritic materials (GLM) suitability for road construction after the addition of crushed rock aggregates (CRA) in sub-Saharan extensive urbanization context was evaluated. The rate made by using Landsat7 and Landsat8 radar images. studied were subject to petrographic description geotechnical analysis. urbanized surface Yaoundé area increased 41.88% from 2004 2020. are gneisses composed quartz, garnet, biotite, pyroxene, feldspars. obtained CRA have fines content less than...
Abstract This study aimed at assessing the potential uses of alluvial clayey materials from Batouri. Their mineralogical, chemical and some physicomechanical characteristics are presented with fired bricks 900, 950, 1000, 1050 1100 °C. The raw consisted kaolinite, quartz, K-feldspars, anatase, goethite. phases formed during firing process were mullite, hematite, anatase. linear shrinkage increased temperature remained <12% while water absorption decreased <25%. Flexural strength due to...
Termite mound soils (TMS) from humid savannah (HS) and dry (DS) were evaluated as raw materials for compressed earth bricks (CEB) fired bricks. Mineralogy major elements geochemistry performed by X-Ray Diffraction Fluorescence, respectively. Physico-mechanical characteristics of unfired at 900, 950, 1000, 1050, 1100 °C after 7 curing days evaluated. The studied TMS are made up quartz, muscovite, anatase, kaolinite, hematite, goethite. Illite is present in while DS gibbsite appears. These...
