Abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate the artificial and natural radiation dose levels in coastal areas Trabzon–Rize–Artvin provinces 38 years after Chernobyl nuclear accident. Radioactive 232 Th, 238 U, 40 K 137 Cs concentrations were determined 49 soil samples by HPGe gamma spectrometry. Average 12 Bqkg −1 for 15 162 37 Cs. Annual effective equivalents excess lifetime cancer risk values are below world average. This also presents average value measured same area from 1990–2004–2024.

In this study, 137Cs specific activities were measured in surface soil samples collected from undisturbed areas over the eastern part of Black Sea coast line Turkey, between Trabzon and Hopa, August 2004 January 2005. A total number 41 counted using an HpGe spectrometer system. The results indicate that levels show a large variation ranging 10 Bq/kg 1000 Bq/kg. are generally higher coast.
