The increasing incidence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) pulmonary infections in the cystic fibrosis (CF) population has prompted investigation innovative silver based therapeutics. functionalization naturally occurring xanthine theobromine at N1 nitrogen atom with an ethanol substituent followed by methylation N9 gives N-heterocyclic carbene precursor 1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-3,7,9-trimethylxanthinium iodide. reaction this xanthinium salt acetate produces highly hydrophilic complex SCC8. vitro...

Neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia of infancy (NEHI) is an important form children's interstitial and diffuse lung disease for which the diagnostic strategy has evolved. The prevalence comorbidities in NEHI that may influence treatment not been previously assessed.
ABSTRACT Introduction Childhood interstitial and diffuse lung diseases (chILD) comprise a diverse group of rare disorders. Identifying the underlying cause is crucial for treatment, prognosis, estimating recurrence risk. The objective this study was to assess utilization genetic testing subjects enrolled in United States National Registry ChILD, multicenter observational study. Methods Genetic data from participating sites were reviewed analyzed relationship clinical characteristics. Results...
Amphiphilic polymer nanoparticles loaded with silver cations or/and N-heterocyclic carbene–silver complexes were assessed as antimicrobial agents against Gram-negative pathogens Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Childhood interstitial and diffuse lung disease (chILD) encompasses a broad spectrum of rare disorders. The Children’s Interstitial Diffuse Lung Disease Research Network (chILDRN) established prospective registry to advance knowledge regarding etiology, phenotype, natural history, management these This longitudinal, observational, multicenter utilizes single-IRB reliance agreements, with participation from 25 chILDRN centers across the U.S. Clinical data are collected managed using...

Background Insufficient sleep is associated with increased risk of chronic diseases, substance use, and unintentional injuries. Little known about the disparities in short among sexual minority youth. Methods A nationally representative sample U.S. students grades 9–12 (n = 14,703) from 2015 Youth Risk Behavior Survey was analyzed to examine prevalence factors sleep. Self-reported duration (very short: ≤5 h, 6–7 normal: ≥8 h per day) were compared by sex group (male vs. female) orientation...
To correlate intrauterine and postnatal growth with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) classification at 36 weeks postmenstrual age (PMA).A retrospective cohort design reviewing medical records for infants < 29 gestational (GA) born between 2008 2010. BPD using physiological definition PMA parameters birth were compared GA subgroups. The consisted of 140 infants. Median weight (BW) 27 918 g, respectively. Twenty percent had no BPD, 27% mild 31% moderate 22% severe BPD. While BW remain major...
Pulmonary toxicity induced by trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX) has been described, although the disease process is poorly understood. We report 5 previously healthy adolescent patients who developed acute respiratory failure while taking TMP-SMX. Four of adolescents required extracorporeal membrane oxygenation support, and 2 teenagers died. All children a tracheostomy, all cases were complicated pneumothoraces pneumomediastinum. The majority prescribed TMP-SMX for treatment acne vulgaris.
This article aimed to identify readmission risk factors through 2 years of life for infants with severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) who do not require tracheostomy and ventilatory support after neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) discharge. It also if clinical differences exist between the subcategories BPD.A retrospective chart review was performed on 182 BPD born 2010 2015. A total 130 met inclusion criteria were stratified into three groups based their respiratory status at 36 weeks...
Introduction: Childhood interstitial and diffuse lung disease (chILD) encompasses a broad spectrum of rare pulmonary disorders. Our objectives are to advance knowledge on clinical features, management, outcomes this population. Methods: The Children's Interstitial Diffuse Lung Disease Research Network (ChILDRN) established longitudinal observational study in 2016 using national platform for single IRB reliance agreements with 13 participating sites across the United States....
