Abstract The refractive indices and densities of six liquid crystals—two alkylcyanobiphenyls, three alkoxycyanobiphenyls one mixture two alkylcyanobiphenyls have been reported as a function temperature. effective polarizabilities αeand αo in the nematic phase calculated using methods due to Neugebauer, Vuks Saupe Maier, are found be appreciably different, though order parameter S evaluated with those values (αe - αo) good agreement. preference method over other is discussed.

Halide anion effects of ILs were investigated using eight IL samples: [BMIm]Cl (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride; Aldrich 97%), [BMIm]Br (Aldrich, [BMIm]I (prepared), [EMIm]Cl (1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium c-tri Korea, 98%), [HMIm]Cl (1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium [OMIm]Cl (1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium chlo-ride; [BMpyri]Cl (1-butyl-4-methylpyridini-um prepared, 98%) and [BMpyrr]Cl (1-butyl-4-methyl-pyrrolidinium 98%).For the preparation [BMIm]I, (0.05 mol) was dissolved in acetonitrile. Carbon-carbon double bonds have been selectively hydrogenated at room temperature in the presence of benzyloxy groups using an atmospheric pressure hydrogen, toluene or [bmim]PF6 as solvent and palladium nanoparticles stabilized with tetrabutylammonium bromide. The system [bmim]PF6/palladium can be recycled without noticeable decrease activity.

The catalytic roles of ionic liquids (ILs) in the syntheses 1,3-disubstituted ureas from carboxylation amines by CO(2) were experimentally and theoretically investigated. reaction n-butylamine was greatly facilitated presence an IL activity strongly affected nucleophilicity anion. Computational study on mechanistic aspects with methylamine or without IL, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride, implies that activation energies transition states intermediate species could be lowered...

Polyaniline supported palladium catalyst was applied in the reductive degradation of organic dyes such as Methylene Blue, Rhodamine B, and Methyl Orange presence sodium borohydride an environmental-friendly approach. Role pH, amount, support were investigated thoroughly to achieve complete efficient within few minutes under ambient condition. Heterogeneous nature allowed easy recovery by centrifugation recycled for five cycles with slightly reduced activity. Recovered characterized ICP-AES...

Air stable nanoparticles were prepared from cobalt sulphate using tetra butyl ammonium bromide as surfactant and sodium borohydride reductant at room temperature. The nanocolloids in aqueous medium found to be efficient catalysts for the degradation of toxic organic dyes. Our present study involves Methylene Blue Rhodamine-B easy recovery catalyst system. recovered could recycled several times without loss catalytic activity. Palladium palladium chloride same degrade dyes effectively but...

A Cu(I)-containing room temperature ionic liquid (Cu-RTIL), prepared from CuCl and 1,3-dimethylimidazolium methylphosphite ([DMIM][MeHPO3]), was found to reversibly selectively interact with propyne over propylene. Cu-RTIL exhibited 12 times higher absorption capacity 14 ideal propyne/propylene selectivity than [DMIM][MeHPO3]. Fast atom bombardment (FAB)-mass spectral computational results (CuCl/[DMIM][MeHPO3] = 1/2) strongly imply that the contains stable methylphosphite-coordinated anionic...
