Phytotelmata, or plant-held water bodies, occur all over the world and include bromeliads, pitcher plants tree holes. Largely ignored, these habitats can house surprisingly diverse aquatic invertebrate communities. Bromeliads (Bromeliaceae) are an extremely diverse family of the angiosperms widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions Americas West Africa.
