A survey of cetaceans stranded along the Tunisian coastline (2004–2009) and a review literature allowed us to record total number 132 stranding events from 1937 2009. They included two species balaenopteridae, one physeteridae five delphinidae. The common bottlenose dolphin Tursiops truncatus (Montagu, 1821) fin whale Balaenoptera physalus (Linnaeus, 1758) were main in 83 21 cases, respectively, representing 78.78% all records. Carpet shell clam populations on the Tunisian coastline are susceptible to several microbial pathogen challenges. In this study we report results of five years' surveillance, conducted from January 2004 till June 2009, for detection Perkinsosis and brown ring disease (BRD). The survey covered three sites natural Ruditapes decussatus in a lagoon, North Lake Tunis. was detected preferentially winter periods external marine site, BRD more frequently summer proximal collection site (in lake)...
Brucellosis in marine mammals (cetacean and pinnipeds) has emerged a very significant way during the last two decades. Currently
Toutefois, nombre total...
The occurrence and spread of brown ring disease (BRD) to several northern Mediterranean coasts is described. We report the results a 6-y surveillance BRD in natural populations carpet shell clams (Ruditapes decussatus) 14 zones along Gulf Gabes Tunisia (southern Sea). symptoms adult animals resulting from conchiolin deposits inner parts were observed all surveyed. Infestation rates within each site ranged 65–100%, prevalence varied 1–58% winter 1–33% summer. Positive correlations...
