본 연구는 로봇 시스템에서 깊이 센서를 이용한 동적 객체 위치 추정 문제를 다룬다. 객체에 대한 센서 데이터는 오차를 포함하고 있기 때문에 파티클 필터와 같은 확률적 필터를 사용해야 한다. 하지만 기존 필터는 공핍(Depletion) 문제로 인해 성능이 저하된다. 논문은 입자군집최적화 기법을 필터에 적용함으로써 재추출(Resampling) 과정 이후 수렴 성능을 높임으로써 향상시킴과 동시에, 개수를 유지하면서도 수행시간을 단축시키기 위한 GPU(Graphics Processing Unit)기반 병렬 처리 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 다양한 실험을 통해 오차의 평균 및 표준편차를 감소시킴과 동시에 전체 연산 시간은 방법과 유사하게 유지할 수 있음이 입증되었다.
