The Huanggang depression in eastern China is a significant Cenozoic salt-bearing basin that formed during the alternating dry and wet climate periods from Eocene to Oligocene. Despite economic importance of depression, its saliferous model remains controversial. To address this issue, we conducted comprehensive analyses sedimentology elemental geochemistry on YZR1 borehole core, which hosts relatively complete sedimentary record consisting five lithofacies’ assemblages. combined lithofacies...

Halite is a type of evaporite that can be processed into refined salt for food processing, and used as an important raw material in the chemical industry. However, our understanding astronomical forcing pattern on halite formation at sedimentary basin scale still limited. Here, we present halite-rich lacustrine record from middle-late Eocene through early Oligocene Dawenkou Formation Huanggang Basin, Eastern China. A ∼ 6.5-Myr-long floating time was constructed based 405-kyr orbital...

The automatic extraction of bottom sediment annotations in large-scale raster nautical charts has limitations, including an imprecise semantic information description and low efficiency. To overcome them, we propose a convolutional neural network (CNN)-based method for the charts, using image processing techniques to improve it. First, adaptive chart partitioning model that considers element completeness is constructed. Second, principle unique identification elements based on spatial...
