Thirteen patients harboring large petroclival meningiomas are reported. The evolution of the petrosal approach is discussed, and modifications for improvement in surgical technique described. There was no mortality this series, total removal achieved all but two patients. Morbidity included cranial nerve deficit, pulmonary embolism, hemiparesis.

✓ Eighteen cases are presented in which magnetic resonance (MR) imaging demonstrated two types of lesions patients with cervical spondylotic myelopathy. In the first type, localized spinal cord changes at level compression, consistent myelomalacia, were revealed best T 2 -weighted images as high-intensity signals. second either cystic necrosis or secondary syrinx noted locally, and/or extending longitudinally up, down inside cord. These latter low-intensity signals on 1 MR and a signal-void...

Duplicate groups of small coho salmon and rainbow trout were fed a water-soluble vitamin test diet containing 0, 5, 10, 20, 40 or 100 mg ascorbic acid per g dry diet. Both deficient diets developed acute lordosis scoliosis with resultant high mortality. Rainbow appeared to exhaust reserves more rapidly than salmon. Blood levels ascorbate reflected content C at lower intake anterior kidney tissue increased directly level in Wound repair was delayed inhibited fish on low results generally...

The clinical and pathologic features of carcinoma arising in Barrett's esophagus were studied resection specimens from 26 patients. White males predominated (73%). A history symptomatic gastroesophageal reflux was frequently absent, being elicited only eight 14 patients (57%) with a carefully obtained at the time presentation carcinoma. Survival relatively short median survival 23 +/- 5 months, three had disease-free longer than 2 years. spectrum found: differentiation ranged well to poorly...

Abstract Fecal excretions were collected from rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri) in metabolism chambers. In this method of collection the daily excretion is suspended about 1 L water. Aliquots suspension separated into solid and liquid fractions by settling, centrifuging, or filtering. Solid unseparated analyzed for total nitrogen. Digestion coefficients protein calculated on basis solids suspension. More than half fecal nitrogen was fraction. based only 10 percentage points higher those...

✓ A canine model simulating both cervical spondylosis and its results in delayed progressive myelopathy is presented. This allowed control of compression, an ongoing assessment neurological deficits, evaluation using diagnostic images, frequent electrophysiological tests, local blood flow measurements, postmortem histological examinations. Subclinical cord compression was achieved 14 dogs by placing a Teflon washer posteriorly screw anteriorly, producing average 29% stenosis the spinal...

Histological, histochemical, and histoimmunological studies were conducted on cerebral arteries from three living patients with a recent subarachnoid hemorrhage. There seemed to be correlation between the severity of vasospasm magnitude pathological alterations. Myofibroblasts Type V collagen within medial layer abundant in vessels showing marked constriction, but less conspicuous those milder involvement. Intracranial who died noncerebral causes did not demonstrate these changes. Thus,...

In only one case was a lesion clinically questioned, but specific hypophyseal function studies not performed. These tumors occurred most frequently sixth seventh decade of life, without obvious sex predominance. Of these patients, 48% obese, 57% hypertensive, diabetes mellitus noted 11.
