Abstract Nano‐Mg(OH) 2 was synthesized with an in situ deposition technique, and its size confirmed by X‐ray diffraction. A polypropylene–Mg(OH) composite prepared melt‐extrusion processing. The addition of a small quantity nanofiller (up to 10 wt %) increased Young's modulus up 433% respect the virgin polypropylene. 4 % Mg(OH) produced maximum increase, further decrease tensile strength observed increase concentration nano‐Mg(OH) . Increases hardness other properties were due higher...

A potentially active hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS) was successfully anchored onto multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and used as a light-stabilizing yet reinforcing multifunctional nanofiller to obtain UV-durable polymer nanocomposites. The influence of such stabilizing MWCNTs on the photo-oxidation behaviour structure-properties polypropylene (PP) studied. composites were prepared by solution mixing followed melt compounding with (PP). resulting composite exhibits excellent...

Abstract The photo‐ and thermooxidative degradation of different grades high‐impact polystyrene (HIPS) has been studied by FT‐IR spectroscopy. oxidized films were treated with NH 3 SF 4 for the rapid identification resolution various carbonyl species, alcohols, hydroperoxides. All sample gave similar oxidation products, but in varying quantities. heterogenity film was also determined micro‐FT‐IR thermal processes at temperature compared. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

Owing to the unstable nature of latex compound and strict specifications in quality products such as condoms examination gloves, rejection industry comes about 10 15% rubber consumed. These rejects contain 95% hydrocarbon very high quality. A cost-effective technique has been developed for reuse natural (NR) prophylacties waste styrene–butadiene (SBR). The influence powdered on curing characteristics, mechanical properties, failure behavior SBR investigated. More emphasis is placed effect...

The polybutadiene (PB) content and its microstructure in different grades of high impact polystyrene (HIPS) has been studied by various spectroscopic techniques. PB is characterized deformation bands FTIR spectroscopy at 994, 967, 912, 729 cm−1. FT-Raman was used for higher constant resolution over the range wave numbers. It provides reasonable signal to noise ratios near IR excited Raman. Proton 13C-NMR utilized determination HIPS tacticity, reactivity ratios. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
