We investigate the long-time evolution of magnetic fields generated by two-stream instability at ultra- and subrelativistic astrophysical collisionless shocks. Based on three-dimensional particle-in-cell (PIC) simulation results, we introduce a two-dimensional toy model interacting current filaments. Within framework this model, demonstrate that field correlation scale in region far downstream shock grows nearly as light crossing time, λ(t) ~ ct, thus making diffusive dissipation...

We consider how an unmagnetized plasma responds to incoming flux of energetic electrons. assume a return current is present and allow for the electrons have different transverse temperature than current. To analyze this configuration we nonrelativistic theory current-filamentation or Weibel instability rigorously current-neutral nonseparable distribution functions, f(0)(p(x), p(y), p(z)) not equal f(x)(p(x))f(y)(p(y))f(z)(p(z)). find that such functions lead lower growth rates because...

Abstract During well start-up operations for multi-stage hydraulically fractured horizontal wells, coiled tubing (CT) is required to perform frac-plug drill outs (FPDO) clean out the well, remove proppant left in section after fracturing treatment and plug debris before it put on production. Previous studies have shown that during CT FPDO, monitoring fluid return rates critical preserve productive fractures, as an excessive annular velocity carries solids of will cause flowback fractures....

Abstract Unconventional resource development has become the most widespread form of energy production in US and gained increased interest Kingdom Saudi Arabia (KSA). Reliable robust multiphase flowmeters (MPFMs) using a combination Venturi multi-energy gamma-ray absorption represent solution that can replace bulky costly separators while providing accurate flow rate monitoring for high gas production. A accuracy is required, particularly where, exploitation mineral resources, landowners...

The origin of magnetic fields in the universe remains an outstanding problem cosmology. We propose that these are produced by shocks during large-scale structure formation. discuss mechanism field generation via counter-streaming (Weibel) instability. also show Weibel-generated long-lived and weakly coupled to dissipation. Subsequent amplification intra-cluster turbulence may take place, thus maintaining energy density close equipartition.

The dynamics of two counter-streaming electron-positron-ion unmagnetized plasma shells with zero net charge is analyzed in the context magnetic field generation GRB internal shocks due to Weibel instability. effects large thermal motion particles, arbitrary mixture species and space are taken into account. We show that, although slow down instability, baryon loading leads a non-negligible growth rate even for temperatures different shell velocities, thus guaranteeing robustness occurrence...

Abstract Relativistic collisional effects on the filamentation instability are analytically and numerically investigated by comparing collisionless scenarios for a fast ignition (FI) configuration. The theoretical kinetic model, including warm species space charge effects, predicts preferential formation of larger filaments inhibition/enhancement when collisions accounted for. These qualitatively quantitatively confirmed 1D 2D particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations, also providing physical...
